Thursday Chatter!

Morning, lovely ladies! I have to survive the next 6 hours and then I'm free until Monday!

It looks like we're going to get rained out tomorrow for the 4th. @hummingbird125 and the fam are supposed to come over to eat, drink, and watch fireworks but I'm not sure they're still coming now with the weather :( I'm bummed, I was really excited to see Kaya. And her mom too, I guess.

Re: Thursday Chatter!

  • @swazzle -I'm jealous you get to leave a little early for your long weekend! The office is empty so I feel silly being here.

Tonight H has to work so after I work out I might take Maddux over to my parent's house to have dinner with them and let him play with their dogs.

Tomorrow we are waking up at the butt crack of dawn to run the Peachtree. I'm praying that it doesn't rain. It rained last year and it was super muggy and muddy and my shoes were basically ruined.

Afterwards I'll come home and probably hang out with H until he has to go to work again. Then I'm going to find somewhere to watch fireworks. I may just go to this park over near us since they do fireworks there every year. Hopefully Maddux doesn't freak out by them. We will see.

Saturday we are going to a wedding that's going to last all day since it's a full Catholic Mass, then a 2 hour gap, and then the reception.

Sunday is my mom's bday so my little sister and I are baking her a cake and celebrating with her all day.
  • I'm working from home and Kabooming my faucets.

    HI NEY!
  • @southernpeach89 - Lucy doesn't do well with fireworks. Or thunder. We had a really bad storm last night and she was not a happy camper. These couple of days are not pleasant for my pup!

    @tuarceatha - HELLO YOU!

  • Bummer that the weather isn't cooperating! I hope @hummingbird125 comes over anyway.
  • @swazzle -Aw that stinks! Maddux hasn't been upset about storms yet but I have this feeling he won't like the fireworks. I'm going back and forth with whether it would be a bad decision to do that.
  • @swazzle - the weather is supposed to be perfect down here. JUST SAYIN'.

@tuarceatha - want to come up for the fireworks tomorrow night?

My sis, BIL, niece, nephew and parents are in town for a couple hours this afternoon. My parents are going to stay overnight and we're going to bingo. Tomorrow we have no plans, so maybe an hour or two at the pool, then fireworks at night. Saturday we're going to a wedding for one of my co-workers. I get to wear a new dress! Sunday we have no plans except drinks with some friends at night. Should be a nice long relaxing weekend.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • My friend is up here for the end of the week, so I've been off since yesterday.  She's leaving sometime Friday, so luckily I didn't really have 4th plans to get rained out!  We only got to go in the pool for like 20 min before the thunder started, and then we were trapped at home in the downpour for another hour.  Looks like we're in for more of the same this afternoon :-(

Today we have eye appointments and then I need to start the daunting task of finding new frames - hate that!

I received my vivofit in the mail yesterday, and it tells me I slept like crap last night.  Obviously I knew that!  I bought an elliptical for the basement on Tuesday night, but SO hasn't been around to put it together yet since he works Wed-Sun this week.  I don't know if this thing will measure accurately or if I should buy the heart rate monitor too.

Last night we went to dinner at this place that BFF loved as a kid.  It was ok, but as we were leaving with our to-go pizza box, a roach ran across the top and into the box!!!

    No leftovers for us :-P

  • YAY for a three day weekend! As soon as I'm out of work today (hoping to get out a little before 4), I'm heading to the store to stock up on snacks and booze to spend a stormy day inside tomorrow. Sad I don't get to see @Swazzle and her crew, but I love rainy days inside, so it isn't a total loss.

Plan for the weekend? Healthy snacks, since I ate all the things yesterday. Wine. Lots of movies. Reading. Lots of wedding planning. Wine. Cleaning. Attempting to exercise. Snuggling. More wine. Maaaaaybe going into the city to try on wedding dresses because I
really want to. Oh yeah, and some wine.

    Hey ladies!!

This rain is really putting a damper on this long weekend!!

I was just informed by the new boss that we are getting let out early today. He didn't say when but I don't care because we're being let out early!! I'll go home and play with the pup and finish getting the house ready for the party this Saturday.

I started on my crafty stuff for the party last night and I am pretty damn proud of myself for these:

Tonight I have to finish the straw decals and the props for the photo booth. I am also doing a BJ's run for hot dogs and hamburgers.

  • @Swazzle - I hear you on fireworks/thunder.  Our dog hates it but he doesn't get scared...just angry (he won't stop barking).  Have you tried that thunder jacket?  We found one that (barely) fit our dog and it did zero but I heard it does help some pups.  Poor Lucy.

@Southernpeach89 - I'm a big fan of trying to get a dog used to things when they are puppies (car rides, skate boards, water, loud noises, etc.) so they don't develop a fear later on.  If Maddux is starting to freak out, though, you might want to leave the fireworks as much as that might suck.

Morning, ladies.  I'm tired...after all the house drama yesterday, H and I had a fight and both ended up saying things we didn't mean.  We made up but arguing after the drama filled day just left me wiped. We did decide to buy the house even though the owners aren't cooperating...we figure it still has to appraise or we will walk then.  I do want it to work, however, because the home is a lovely one (just in major need of TLC) in a great neighborhood and with an awesome yard for our pup.

  • I'm really hoping we get let out early from work today, I'm tired and I don't feel like being here at all.    We're supposed to see fireworks and go to a bbq at a friend's house but the weather may prevent that.  The weather is supposed to be nice for the party we're hosting on Saturday though.

  • Yay almost weekend! Today we are making an offer on a house we saw yesterday. There's already an offer in but it's contingent on them selling THEIR house too so we are hoping the sellers will like our offer better since we are no strings attached except the whole appraising thing. H is very nervous since we've already been burned by the other house but I kinda like this one better so we will see. My parents are supposedly coming out for the 4th. I just don't know when because my dad is very non committal lol. He just wants to visit me and see with his own eyes that I'm alive after my hospital stay because duh I'm the favorite. (Both my sisters and brother can likely claim the same thing and be right at times) I want to go to a concert (municipal band) on the beach and then watch the fireworks. We will see if that happens. And then maybe some sort of crockpot meal (I'm thinking French dips) or snack. I'm not planning to shop at all today so we will see - I'm basically limited to going out of the house one time per day without drastically killing my stamina. @hummingbird125 go to jersey dang it! @swazzle has guac! @southernpeach89 couldn't figure out why your math teacher hubs had to work tonight then duuuuh BBQ. can he cater @lapeanut1018's shower? I like BBQ.
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • @minskat30 -Yea that's probably a good idea. I've seen people bring their dogs to the park before for the 4th so maybe he will be so distracted by all the people and other puppies that the loud noises won't even phase him lol.
  • I'm picking up what @cu97tiger is puttin' down. In other words: @swazzle and @hummingbird125 should TOTALLY come down to the DC area for fireworks.

Tonight I'll probably just laze about and relax. And then I'll get stir crazy after about an hour of that and do laundry. Maybe try to squeeze a beer in between No-Uh's feedings.

Tomorrow, we're heading to our BFFs/No-Uh's godparent's house for a cook out and fireworks. I'm extra excited because No-Uh's godfather has been deployed since he was 2 weeks old, and he gets home tonight! YAY!

Saturday will be cleaning cleaning cleaning (D's parents are coming to visit next week), and then Sunday is my niece's b-day party. She's turning 3, and I'm struggling with what to get her. She has a poop ton of dolls and doll accessories. I'm great with boy gifts, but she's only my 2nd niece (all 20something others are nephews). Any ideas?

  • @beanbot2002 just cause your niece is a girl doesn't mean she only needs girl toys! Maybe a puzzle or blocks or stuffed animal or something?

  • Day 2 of my 3 day week...and I doubt I'll have any of you lovelies to distract me at work tomorrow!

I have very little planned for my weekend...going out for dinner tonight for a friend's birthday, and FI and I will probably go to the movies tomorrow night. I have a bunch of cleaning to do around the apartment, but other than that I just want to be lazy all weekend. Maybe try to put in some time in the FILs pool or something.

I hope you all have a great July 4th weekend!

  • @Blue -Hahaha I wish he could! Their BBQ is amazing!!! It's funny because the restaurant he is working at is actually catering the rehearsal dinner. I would love for them to cater the shower but they are pretty expensive when it comes to catering so I'll probably have H help me cook the food.
  • @Blue&White - ALL the good house vibes to you!

@Southernpeach89 - Maddux will probably be plenty distracted by the people and dogs.  Maybe bring some extra tasty treats for him or a blanket he is familar with as well if you are worried about him freaking out.  Good luck!

  • @beanbot2002 just cause your niece is a girl doesn't mean she only needs girl toys! Maybe a puzzle or blocks or stuffed animal or something?

  • @cu97tiger - I'm on my way! ;)

@hummingbird125 - When/where are you going to look at dresses?! If you want extra company, let me know!

@caseface5 - I can't really tell what it is from the picture (sparklers?) but it looks really nice!

@minskat30 - I have one for her and COMPLETELY forgot about it so thank you for the reminder! I think it's supposed to storm here again tonight so maybe I'll try it out in preparation for tomorrow night. Sending vibes your way about the house!

@Blue - EVERYTHING is crossed that the sellers pick you!

  • I'm in the office for a 10am meeting and then I'm PEACED. Going home, packing up the car, and Maine bound!! I can't wait - except that we're taking my car, so I'm the only one who can drive (because I haven't taught FI how to drive stick yet, which I have to do before May, so I can marry him.)

We're hopefully going to see some friends up in Maine, and my godmother, who is going to officiate our ceremony.

I just ate an Oreo donut, and now I have a belly ache.

  • @Swazzle, yes, the ones in the back, the taller ones are sparklers and the ones in the front are glow sticks. The holders say "You will light up the night" on the glow sticks and the sparklers say "sparkle, pop, shine"

Machines are rarely accurate. I bought a polar watch on Amazon for about $60, and I'm amazed at how inaccurate machines are now. Definitely recommend a heart rate monitor!

  • I'm at work all day today but I think I may leave a little early and get my long weekend started sooner :)  My dad is coming into town tonight to visit and is taking me and FI out to eat.

FI and I worked on some wedding stuff last night.  We made a checklist of everything we need to bring to the venue so we can make sure we have everything ready to go the night before.  I am so afraid that I will forget to bring something or forget to buy something, so our checklist has calmed me down some :)  We also made a pre-ceremony/ceremony/reception timeline. FI woke up this morning and told me he had 2 wedding dreams last night; one was a nightmare where everything went wrong, and in the second one everything went well except I had changed our colors to red and white and forgot to tell FI so he showed up to the ceremony wearing mint green :)

  • My stomach hurts because I ate too much yesterday, including a salted caramel milkshake which honestly wasn't even that good :-/

Anyways, I'm super duper excited right now because I just g-chatted my little sister and threw out the idea of her coming into the city to go wedding dress shopping with me on Saturday morning, and she's totally on board and said she'll convince my mom to come in too so we can do that together and then go to brunch!

  • I too am sitting at an empty office wondering why I'm here.  I'm hopefully going shopping for BM dress #2 tonight.  The rest of the weekend, probably go to the lake, but no big plans.  I should probably figure out what I want to accomplish to be productive- I think this is basically our last weekend of the summer that we don't have graduation or moving parties or bridal or baby showers.  Yipes.

I'd like to share some fun texts from beloved FMIL - Tuesday single text: "Need to register before shower invites go out." (She's not involved in the shower, but ok, thanks for the tip).

Wednesday single text: "Your new aunts are bugging me about a shower gift.  And Aunt X wants to buy you candle sticks for the wedding."

Today: "Let aunt X know which candlesticks you registered for so she can run and buy them.  Right now or as soon as possible.  She is here".  Me, flabbergasted- "We didn't register for candlesticks??" Her: "Could you"

Is it me, what on earth is going on? Why is everyone apparently freaking out already about buying us gifts for a shower still 3 months away, and why is Aunt X hell bent on buying us candlesticks?  Lmao:)

  • I'm hoping I can sneak out of work early today... there's a really popular fireworks show this evening near my office, and I'm hoping if I leave early I'll be able to avoid the traffic. Tonight FI is taking me to dinner at PF Changs as a belated birthday dinner date. Om nom nom. No plans for the rest of the weekend... should probably figure that out soon. I have Monday off as a comp day for working last weekend, so I think I'll start packing up our apartment then. I'm so excited to be able to sleep in... it's going to be glorious.

Also before May, or you're also not allowed to participate in the wedding.
