After party - help needed!

Hello My fiancé and I are eloping from London to NYC to marry on the 3rd Jan. We have just about everything organised (in our minds if not actually done!) the only problem we have is finding somewhere to go after our reception meal. We should be out of our meal by about 10p.m. and need ideas where to go afterwards. We are looking for some music, maybe a dance floor. The ages will vary from 26 to 60 so any music would need to be varied I.e. No heavy hiphop/dance! We would be happy to maybe go for some cocktails, because there are 24 of us pre booking would be ideal! Thanks in advance! Emily

  • Try looking up the local board for NYC.

Yep, this is a destination wedding.  Elopement would be just the two of you.

Try the NYC board but quite a few of us are from the area.  What part of NYC is your ceremony in, and where are you staying?

For something really swanky, I would try the Flatiron Room on 27th and 6th.  It's a jazz club with basically the most delicious cocktails ever.  Not a dance floor, but awesome live music.  It's a bit small but your group is small.  Definitely call way in advance as they get crowded.

If you want more of a dance atmosphere, Monarch Rooftop has great music and a lovely view of the Empire State Building.  It's on 36th and 6th.  Also someplace you want to call ahead, but it is definitely large enough for your group.

I think most other places I'd recommend are not places I would take a 60-year-old guest.  I like Tonic East and Banc in Murray Hill, but it's a young crowd.

  • Hi

Thanks for the suggestions! This is really helpful - I will definitely look into the Flatiron Room.

Yes the main problem for our destination wedding (not elopement - I stand corrected!) is the gap in age, our parents our coming so it's finding a happy medium for my friends and the older croud!

If the Flatiron Room can accommodate all of you (and it's small), it will definitely please a variety of ages.  Good luck and have a great time in NYC!
