Guests Bringing Dates

Hi Everyone!

I just sent my invites out and made sure to address envelopes appropriately for friends who have SOs. A friend of mine texted me to ask if she can bring a date. She is currently not in a relationship. This was her message:

"Do I get a plus one to your wedding? If not, it's okay, just want to make sure before I find a date"

I would so love to let her bring a date but I am feeling a financial twinge at the question. So my answer is no, but I wanted to make sure I respond properly before I send the message. Thoughts on how to respond?

Thanks!

Re: Guests Bringing Dates

  • If you did not include an "and Guest" on her invite them I am guessing you didn't want to invite her with a date.  I would just tell her that you are sorry but that you will not be able to accommodate a guest for her.

  • "I'm sorry, but we aren't able to invite dates for our single guests. I hope you'll still be there"
  • "I'm sorry, but we can't accommodate dates for guests who are not in relationships."
