Undergarment help for big chest

Hi. I'm having trouble finding a strapless bra that will fit my size 34GG chest. I went to a specialty shop but they only had one and it did not work. You could see the bra when I put on my dress. While my dress does have a corset back and there's some boning sewed in, I just don't feel comfortable going without a strapless/corset bra underneath. I'm totally afraid of pulling a Janet Jackson. I live in San Diego and I'm willing to drive to a place that might have something or even purchase online (though I hate the hassle of returning since most things don't fit with the 1st purchase). Any suggestions?

My bridal shop offered to sew my strapless bra into my dress.  I ended up going a different route, but they said by tacking it in, I could be assured the top of the strap on my back wouldn't peek out.

herroom.com does free returns! I usually have to return my first order as all bras are made differently.

Have you tried going to Intimacy? (http://myintimacy.com/shop-locator) You have to set up an appointment, but they'll have a bra fit specialist work with you who actually knows what they're doing much more so than you'd find at Victoria Secret or Nordstrom or any of those places. They're not cheap, but if you find something you like that fits in the cups, they'll do free alterations to make the band smaller to fit you if necessary.

Or, if you find one that fits well but you're afraid of it being seen, you can have it sewn into your dress and/or altered so the fabric that is seen is removed. If you have a good seamstress, she can alter a bra, too!

Www.lindathebrady.com has a great selection of longline bras. Also, don't hesitate to have the bra altered. My bra showed and my seamstress was able to easily alter the cups of the bra to make them a little lower.

Do you feel your dress gives you enough support without a bra?  If your dress fits well and you feel well supported without a bra, you could just use the petal pasties.  I would imagine if your dress is falling it would probably take your bra with it (if that makes sense).

I never thought about altering the bra to make it fit. I might see if the seamstress at my bridal shop could do something like that. I found another shop in SD that suggested having bra "cups" sewn into the dress, so that is another option.

Thanks for the suggestions as I find the perfect solution for me.

I don't know if the sewn in cups will work for your cup size. I tried that, and it was a joke.  The cups that they have to sew in didn't go bigger than a D, and the gave me boob helmets.  It looked ridiculous (I am a 38H).  

It's worth going to see a seamstress though and see what your options are.   I tried 2 or 3 different bras, finally bought one that fit my band and cup size, and then had it altered to fit the dress.   It didn't really change the bra much, just made it a tad shorter, so it didn't show above. I think she charged me $10.00.

Thanks! I might try that actually because I have a feeling I won't find one that will work. I talked with the owner of another bra shop yesterday and she said she'd order some bridal garments for me to try. If they don't work, I may just go the route you suggested. I don't think I ever would have thought of that. I never wear strapless dresses for this reason. It's too hard to find a bra that works. The strapless they make never fit me right (or I'm just super picky).

I even got a little more creative, and in addition to cutting down the top of the bra so it wouldn't be so high, I also had the seamstress add snaps to the inside of the dress, and the outside of the bra.  One in the middle between my boobs, and one one each underarm area.  So, it sort of pulled the dress against my body more (and eliminated uniboob) and gave me a little more security. 

I posted some pictures for someone else that was looking for ideas for large chests recently, I'll see if I can find it.

Here is a photo of the inside of my dress that shows the snaps.  It worked wonders for keeping things up and secure.
