I have my ragey pants on

Re: I have my ragey pants on

  • We had this problem ALL THE TIME at our old apartment.  Each apartment had one covered space assigned to it so either my husband or I could have our car in covered parking all the time.  For some unknown reason, the apartment complex numbered everyone other spot clearly, but not ours.

    Basically: | 171 | 172 | 172a | 173 |  Why would you do that?

So we had people parking in our spot all the time either because we were right in front of the sidewalk that went around the apartments or because they couldn't figure out which spot was theirs.  It got really bad with maintenance vehicles, new neighbors, housekeepers, etc. that I had to not only start leaving bitchy notes but keep the office on speed dial to keep people out of my spot.  Luckily, the office lady was pretty nice and I was usually home before they closed so I could get whoever had parked there out of the spot before my husband got home.
  • Any updates on this?

  • Ah, sorry! I guess they got ticketed by the Courtesy Officer (not really a fine, just a "You're an idiot sticker") and they were moved when I got back from work yesterday. I figured out they're the new tenants across the street, but I'm pretty sure they got the shpeal about renting carports when they signed the leasing contract, so no excuse except maybe they thought it was empty and the could get it for free. LOL NO. I almost wish they were still there, just so I could update something juicer, haha.

  • Glad they at least got reprimanded.  Was it one of those hard to peel off sticker notification?  Love those lol.

I had parking spot next to dumpster walkway which was awesome cuz didn't have anyone to my left. One night I came home from a party and someone had parked in my spot. It was 3am and I was so tired. I parked my car perpendicular blocking them in and went to bed. They had to wait the next morning till I was ready to go out and move my car. My neighbors new it was my spot but acted like they didn't know when they saw the ppl waiting by car. They were so sweet not to disturb me.

You're too nice. This has happened to me before and I had them towed within two hours.
  • This reminded me of my college roommate. We rented car port spots. One day she noticed a girl had parked her car in the obviously unrented spot. She would pick up her car when class was over. (Our apartment was closest to the university with a bus stop with this apparent "free" parking). Anyway. My roommate was THAT person who called and got the poor girls car towed one day because she was sick of the girl getting free parking despite the spot not "belonging" to anyone.

Ugh this happened to me but if I recall correctly I called the tow company and they said either they couldn't do anything unless the rental company called or if the car was there for 24 hours or some bullshit. All I could do was leave a nasty note and fantasize them burning in hell.

  • So, the new tenant saw me yesterday and apologised, which was very nice of him. I guess when he signed the lease, the office said my spot was open, and that so long as it wasn't rented he could park there for free (?!?!?!). I went into the office, and they said they changed over their software and some of the carport rentals got reset... or something. I think it's kinda BS.

But, the spot is still mine, and i didn't get charged for the month of July, so that's nice.

I'm glad I didn't call a tow right away; sometimes all you need as a caps-lock note on the windshield. After that though? Yeah, no, your ass is grass.

  • That does sound like a whoops oversight.   When DH bought his condo, we didn't know how parking spots were assigned and just thought that each unit was guaranteed a spot.   Then on moving day I parked my car in the treasurer's spot while unloading.   It was clearly an oops on my part but at least it was fixed  quickly.
