What should the bride pay for?

For her bridesmaids? Obviously I will be buying their bouquets and bridal gifts, but should I be helping with any thing else? Dress? Hair/makeup? I would love to pay it all for them, but our budget is tighter than tight! I just want to know if there are other things the bride should be responsible for.

Yes to the gift and yes to the bouquet if you want them to carry bouquets. If you want them to wear certain shoes, get their hair/nails/make-up done, you need to pay for it - otherwise, let them do what they want in these departments.

As for a dress, ask them all *privately* what their budget is and pick the lowest budget to choose the dress they'll wear. Or tell them "blue" or whatever and let them choose their own. You don't need to buy their dress, but you do need to stay in their budget.

Bouquets, gifts, host them and SOs at RD if you're having a rehearsal.

Hair and makeup are optional if you don't require it.  So if you tell them, "Do whatever you like with your hair and makeup, but if you want to use my stylist, it costs X and I'm happy to make your appointment," that's fine and you don't need to pay.  If you require hair and makeup, you should pay.

Same with shoes.  If you require certain shoes, you should pay.  If you just tell them, "Wear black shoes," no need for you to pay.

What they ^^^ said. Keep hair, makeup, and shoe talk to generalities unless you want to pay.
