Im Super Pissy for my Wedding

Because I'm on birth control. I've also been on my damn period for the past 2 weeks. My wedding is in 4 days. The damn thing won't go away!! This has never happened before!

I'm not worried about something medically being wrong, (I haven't missed any pills either) but I'm stuck on my period for my wedding and honeymoon and I can't get rid of it!!

Waaaahhhhh!! Help me :(

I was on depo a few years back, (worst decision ever), & I'd also get my periods for like 2 weeks, sometimes. The clinic recommended taking the recommended dose of Advil, 3 times a day to slow it down/get rid of it. I'm not sure the exact reasoning for this working, but it usually did! Something to try??

FYI-Ever since I switched BC, (from depo), I've had fairly regular periods, and also got some spotting around the time of the wedding, and a bit throughout the HM. I seriously think it was just over-excitment/slight stress, as I haven't really had a problem since. I think nerves just get the best of us sometimes! I'd still recommend the Advil. Just don't exceed the recommended dose!

     Good luck, & pre congrats!!

  • I am DEfINITELY giving that a try. Haha thanks!

I've been on LoloEstrin Fe for over 2 years now, had the shortest periods in the world. Never got them at untimely times. This is the first it's ever happened.

  • It could be stress related. Make sure you're taking care of yourself and eating well. Hope that it goes away soon and that your wedding day is perfect!

  • We'll I'm just getting over 2+ weeks of bronchitis! I think stress has outdone itself on me.

  • Ok, so I had the exact opposite problem. I had been on bc for years and always was regular, never missed unless I skipped placebo pills. Two months before the wedding I was late. I freaked thinking I was pregnant. Took like 8 pregnancy tests. Didn't start again until after the wedding. So it's probably just stress. Mine has been super wonky these past few weeks because of all the stress at home.
  • I can't find the specific request (I've spent the last 10 minutes trying to find out for you) but you should go to your GYN... there is something you can take that will stop your period. You may find the name of what it is your GYN needs to give you on wedding boards (that's how I heard of it a while back and know it exists) but there is something you can be given to make it stop.

Sorry for vagueness but know you aren't hopeless if you call your GYN or even Planned Parenthood.

  • Hold on, did you take any antibiotics for the bronchitis? Those can totally mess with your BCP. I would check with your doctor if you need a back up method since I know mine told me to when I needed a antibiotic.
  • I did have to take 3 days of antibiotics, but my period started a week before I took them anyway. I was supposed to get my period in the middle of the honeymoon next week, and I was just going to skip the placebo pills and start a new pack. Obviously this is all out the window now..

I'm going to get a Brazilian today with a tampon in -.- ugh.

  • It could have a lot to do with the stress of the wedding. I'm not on BC but when I get supper stressed out my period will be late or early and seem to last forever. It couldn't hurt to talk with your doctor though to make sure there aren't any underlying issues.

I just wanted to say that J Lohr is a great wine
  • @scribe95  My friend was on depo for years and loved it.  She stopped in March or April because she was getting married the beginning of May and wanted a baby immediately. She only just started having periods again this month.  She had to try various different meds from the doctor to get it to start again.  She still recommends the shot to anyone who will listen. Only downsides in her mind were when she stopped she gained weight rapidly and it took months and lots of medications to get her period back.
  • Any chance you were taking mucinex while you were sick?  I had to take it for a week for a really bad cold once and it made my period come back (2 weeks in one month).  I think it has to do with the loosening of fluids effect from the medicine.
  • I'd definitely be careful with the anti-biotics/BC. No one wants an unexpected baby as a wedding present.

A friend of a friend got food poisoning on her honeymoon, puked up her pill, and had a baby 9 months later. :O

(I mean, not that babies are bad. But they're a big deal when you weren't expecting/planning them).

Oh. my. god. This is like my worst fear.

(like you said... babies are great, just not for me when I'm not planning on it)

Might be worth calling the doctor just in case. This strikes me as weird.

Thanks @NikkiJay3333. Daughter is a teenager and while I wish this weren't necessary it is. She had one extended period during the first three months on it. Nothing crazy since. I think she is adjusting to it. And obviously at her age she has plenty of time to get off of it before she would be ready to have a baby.
@scribe95, keep an eye on her. I had a friend on that. She got crazy depressed. Took almost a year to figure out it was the drugs! Almost 6 months after stopping, she's finally getting back to normal. Teens can be moody to begin with, so just keep an eye. If she does get depressed, consider the BC.

Ah! I was taking mucinex like candy! That makes sense.

  • I got my stupid period three days early this week so I'll be in the middle of it tomorrow, which is my birthday. Bleh.
