Has anyone been to the Brides Against Breast Cancer show and purchased a dress?

  • I went to the Baltimore one two years ago, I did not purchase a dress. I found one that if it had fit, I might have bought. But it was tight, and I wasn't going to put myself through that "oh, I'm totally going to lose weight" hell. They also had vendors there, so you could speak to them, and I think everyone got a free drink, they used tickets. Overall it was alot of fun, but I wouldn't go with the expectation that you're definitely leaving with a dress. If you find something you love, awesome, if you don't no biggie, your cost of admittance went to charity.

  • I went to one this past May in Arlington, VA.  I didn't really care for the experience (although its all for a good cause).  There were lots of dresses but the higher the size, the lower the inventory.  There weren't many plus size dresses to try one.  There were vendors there as well, but the space was too cramped and everything seemed to rushed for me.  But there were plenty of brides there who bought beautiful dresses so it was worth it for some.
  • ^I'm plus plus size. ;(

  • I went to the last one here in San Antonio, Tx and honestly, a lot of the dresses were damaged (mostly on the hem because they were used- could be trimmed off) . I would still suggest going, however, It's a great cause and you could find the perfect dress! You also get a chance to meet with some vendors, but I wouldn't take a whole crew or expect to make a day out of it.
  • I went and I actually had a blast. The people volunteering there were very helpful and not pushy at all. And because of a little misunderstanding, they reduced the price of my veil by more than half! There were alteration people there to hep brides figure out if a dress needed extra work. And after every girl "said yes" to the dress, the volunteers would bring a bell and a handsome man in a tuxedo would walk the girl around the showroom. Give it a chance!
