Thoughts on WeddingGawker

I know the general consensus on TK is that Pinterest is of the devil. I definitely agree that many of the trends are tacky, self-centered and lead to over-the-top expectations (pre-engagement and pre-TK, I will admit that I was sucked into a few of it's guises)

However, I'm wondering if any of you use WeddingGawker.com and what your thoughts are on it? It's essentially Pinterest just for weddings and I think it's much more down-to-earth with less tacky trends. I love it!! Any other brides out there using it as a Pinterest substitute?

Re: Thoughts on WeddingGawker

  • I didn't use the website itself per se, but I subscribed to it on my blog reader and  glanced through it quite a bit when I was first planning. I thought it was a little better than Pinterest in the sense that they are mostly real weddings, and not ridiculous expensive parties that most normal people can't afford. Although, they do showcase some tacky things that I don't agree with (i.e. potluck weddings). I did find some good ideas on there, but there was still quite a bit of weeding through the crap.

  • I honestly had no idea this existed. Off to waste some time!
