Carnival Theme - Wedding Venues

I am looking for a venue near the St. Louis, Missouri area that can accommodate a few carnival rides and games. Looking for somewhere very affordable. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!

While having some aspects of a carnival would be great at a wedding reception, I would skip the rides and games. Too dangerous and risky and probably very expensive.

    Here's a recent thread on it: http://forums.theknot.com/discussion/1032451/reception-idea#latest

Modified to add: Also, this is an international board, so most of us cannot give advice about venues and resources in St. Louis, Missouri.  I'd try the St. Louis board for that.
  • Ok, so are you looking for a patch of grass that you can haul rides into? Or are you looking for a space that has these games/rides or a carnivalish feel already there?

For the former, I'm going to guess you would need permits and whatnot to make that happen. I would imagine it would be very difficult to find somewhere you are not affiliated with to let you use their property for liability reasons. I helped my old office put a small carnival together in the parking lot (owned by property managers though) and even that was very difficult (and not cheap). Not to mention, you'll want to make sure whatever rental company you go through is insured through the roof or look into getting your own liability insurance for the event.

For the latter, Six Flags, Swing-A-Round Fun Town, City Museum, Magic House, the Zoo (dying to go to a wedding here - it would be so cool).

  • I am doing this research for my sister-in-law, who is absolutely in love with this idea. We realize it could get costly. But we are trying to check all of our resources and find out as much as we can. Ideally we are looking for a wedding venue that does receptions outside or in a tent. That would have a little extra space to accommodate maybe 2-3 rides. Nothing to crazy and we would make some carnival games to play. We would also have the wedding at this venue as well. Thanks for all the info. I'll pass it along.
