My FI has decided, not only to move our wedding up (that's okay, I love him and if it makes him my husband earlier, I'm all for it) but he also came up with the idea for a movie premiere wedding yesterday.  His thoughts include the following:

1) Movie Poster STD's : Coming soon... Mr. and Mrs. Loveislouder

2) Ticket Invitations with a perforated edge so they can rip of the end as their RSVP and send back.

3) Popcorn on the tables.

4) A candy bar full of movie snacks

Is this a lame idea? A good idea?  Can you think of anything else to add to his ideas? I'm working on them right now.

Thanks guys!!

  • Generally I don't like themed weddings, but I think this is kind of cute.
  • I think it sounds fun as long as you don't go overboard. Is there a reason he picked this theme? Are y'all movie buffs? Hopefully it describes you as a couple, otherwise it may look a bit out of place.

  • Oh yeah, we watch movies like nobody's business. The only thing that would make more sense is a "Dexter" wedding and I don't think anyone wants a murderer themed wedding :P
  • I think it's a cute idea. Ditto PP about not going overboard with it though.
  • How do we avoid going overboard? Like, is what we have enough or should we add more?
  • I'd probably stick with what you have. Is the candy bar going to be your favor also?

The only other thing that might be cool is having the table numbers be different well-known movies. Just keep these touches minimal so you have movie references here and there, but not EVERYWHERE! Lol

Overboard: encouraging guests to dress like movie characters, recreating the ceremony from Robin Hood: Men in Tights, having a wedding cake shaped like this.

  • That cake is both going overboard and bad-ass at the same time!

Yea I didn't even know that was a cake...I may be super impressed haha

But I agree the cake is awesome for a kid's carnival party, not so much for a wedding.

It's made in the giant cupcake pan... for some reason a friend just made an entire Pinterest board dedicated to cakes made in that thing, and seemed to pin nothing but those yesterday, so it was top of mind. (I unfollowed that board within about a minute of seeing all these damn random cupcake cakes popping up in my feed. Bye.)
