Getting a new roommate today!

After three and a half years, FI is moving in! It is kind of stressful because we leave for Florida TOMORROW for the wedding, but I am so pumped to not have two apartments anymore!

It is kind of annoying because it is becoming apparent that we have lots of stuff and really need to pare down. I would imagine we will just do that when we get back.

But I am so excited to finally live together after so long. Woohoo!

You never know how much stuff you have until you have to move it! When FI and I moved in together, we were sure we would have plenty of room. Well, our three bedroom house was slam full. We downsized to a two bedroom and had to get rid of a lot!

Yay, congrats!!! FI moved in last year and that first month I did not think we would get our place in order. We had SO much stuff. We spent an entire month eating takeout because our kitchen was filled with junk and we were trying to get the place in order lol

When I moved in with FI, it felt like we had 3 sets of everything. I ended up donating so much stuff!

It is crazy how much stuff two people can have. When FI and I first moved in he moved into the studio I was renting since at the time he was just renting a room. Yet somehow when we found a house we realized one rented room and a studio can hold a ton of stuff. We had to upgrade to a bigger uhaul since the small one didn't fit half of it. Apparently my studio was like the tardis and was bigger on the inside!

I will have to disagree with the bolded. It may be good for some relationships but I like to leave some things to the imagination. FI does not fart in front of me. In six years, he has not farted in front of me. I would be mortified if he showed me his poop (unless there was something wrong with it like blood in his stool). I know what poop looks like, I don't need to see his. We have peed in front of each other no problem but I will not poop in front of him and vice versa (unless it were an emergency).

It's not that we aren't comfortable around each other but rather we are still polite. I find it rude to fart around other people and do not want FI to behave rudely around me.

To clarify, I'm not saying it's good to poop/fart/whatever in front of each other. I'm saying I think it's good to get used to be in the same space (which is sometimes a small space!) with each other and having to work around each other and get used to the annoying things you may not have dealt with before. Like FI using his electric razor to shave his beard over the sink and getting hair all over the vanity and just leaving it. And I don't just go looking at poop. When he called me into the bathroom and pointed to the toilet, my first thought was "oh my gosh there must be blood, please God don't let there be blood, his cancer doctor just told us everything is looking good, please don't let there be blood." Turns out he was just really proud of his bowel movement and wanted to share it with someone. I definitely told him about how that's gross and he had me worried there was something wrong. By the way, we are still polite. The bolded completely rubbed me the wrong way. FI and I are not disgusting people with no boundaries.

That makes perfect sense in sharing spaces and like you said, a lot of the times those are small spaces. I read your post that it was good to get used to doing "gross" things in front of each other. While FI and I choose to not do certain things around each other, I know other couples do. My response was saying that it wasn't necessarily good for ALL relationships. I'm sorry but I just read into your post the wrong way.

I also apologize that my comment you bolded offended you. That was not my intent. I simply meant that I consider certain things rude and that FI respects that and chooses to avoid those behaviors if possible. Again, I know that not all people feel this way and act accordingly. That doesn't bother me but if it were FI, then it would bother me.

ETA: FI leaves his stubbles in the sink sometimes and I HATE it too. I don't understand why men do this...

We just moved in together back in April, then bounced between 2 houses, and finally got everybody settled into one house 6 weeks ago.  We had sooooo much stuff.  Lots to donate.  Felt good to purge though.  I've never lived with anyone before, so it's some adjustment.  We are still in the honeymoon stage so no farting in front of each other, lol....and doors closed even for pee.  The shaving stuff doesn't bother me, and we shower together fairly often - it's just the bathroom stuff that I'm good with being private about, haha.  I agree that living together before marriage is a fantastic thing!
