  • Are you having a makeup artist or doing it yourself? I never wear anything except eye liner either and my friend is doing mine. She knows to do natural looking and understated but still enough that will highlight my features and show up in photos.

  • Hey where did you go? It was just a question about natural makeup

  • SORRY!! Back now =)
  • So the first question is are you DIYing your make up or planning on getting it professionally done?

  • DIY for sure.
  • Find a photo you like.  Something like this:

Then take it to Sephora and they'll teach you how to do it for free and sell you what they use.

Or go somewhere like MAC.  MAC charges you $50 to teach you how.  Buy what you need.  Most places even give you a "map" type face diagram colored in with the makeup so you know how far to put each liner, shadow, etc.
  • Does MAC and sephora work for oily skin, other make up companies I tried always fade after a short period of time becuase of my oily skin and eye lids (even with primer).. Would it be worth the expense?
  • Yes, let them pick a primer.  Use the teaching day as your make up test.  Then you know if product works.  If it doesn't, Sephora takes returns on anything, MAC does on unopened items.
  • Awesome! Thanks!
  • Crap! I forgot to mention I am going to wear my glasses for the wedding. Does that change my options?
  • I don't wear make-up.  RARELY will I put on some eyeliner and mascara when I'm going out, but, I just don't do make-up, and everyone who knows me KNOWS this.

So, my sister, who is great at research and great at doing make-up, found the Laura Mercier line at Neiman Marcus.  This line was specifically designed for brides and bridal photos.

I went to the make-up counter twice, and both times, the consultant talked my sister through how to replicate and duplicate the look she had created.  Free of charge.  And, she didn't pressure us in to buying any of the products, just explained things to us, gave tips how to achieve the look I desired, and then my sister and I went home and played with it.

Honestly, I never felt like I was wearing make-up, and I looked natural, just a bit more "oomph" than normal.  DH loved it, and I loved feeling like I wasn't caked on or uncomfortable or going to sweat it all off (my entire ceremony was outside and much of my reception was outdoors).

We did go to the MAC store, but, I felt their make-up was too heavy on my face, and I LOOKED like I was wearing make-up.  Didn't like it.
