finding old books

I saw this amazing idea for invites where you hollow out the book and use it to stash all of the parts that would usually be in the plain little folders.(menu,rsvp,ect). Where would be the best place to buy alot (about 100) old hard cover books. I was thinking goodwill, but i really don't know any other places. Preferably in the Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha area.

Many Libraries will sell off old books or have a once a year book sale for the ones that don't get used. Otherwise, it's almost garage sale season!

Sounds like an awesome idea---not to be a debbie downer, but have you considered the shipping cost. Just wanted to throw it out there if you hadn't, but if you make these please post pics! Very unique!

In Milwaukee there is a store on Wisconsin Ave, I want to say its called Half Price books but I am not 100% sure.  But they have discounted books and last time I was there they had quite a few hard cover books.  Hope that helps!

I would contact libraries in your area, our library has a sale twice a year where you fill a paper grocery bag of books for $5.

You do realize it's going to cost at least $5 to ship each invitation though, right? and hollowing out books is a very long tedious process.

There is a vintage shop on Broadway in the third ward that is across from Broadway Paper and they have a ton of old books.

Yea i have considered shipping. Shouldnt be a big problem. And I've got a few people helping me hollow out the books and so far its going well. I bought a bunch from half priced books (thanks!) and goodwill. Thanks for all of the suggestions!
