  • @JCBride2015 it looks like a beautiful venue.
It is not, AT ALL, what I set out looking for in the venue search.  I wanted to get married at the Montclair Art Museum.  Very modern.  But after realizing the headache of bringing in everything to a raw space, we realized we needed to go all-inclusive.  It's an historic building in a nature reservation, which is very "us," and although I don't really like the Mediterranean decor, Fi loves it.  His family is Italian so they think it's awesome.  And the food is da bomb.

This is my favorite pic of the venue.  A mashup of what it looked like as an abandoned county park overlook, and what it looks like restored now:

You can do some beautiful things with the Mediterranean decor.  What color scheme are you planning?

We figured we would work with the current blush and gold tones, and throw in some sea foam or aqua for contrast.  I think the centerpieces are going to be ivory hydrangeas with light pink peonies, and I want some gold either in the vases or at the place settings.  We don't have a ton of money to mess with decor, but fortunately the restaurant is pretty much already decorated.  BM dresses will be a light blue/green.  My dress is champagne-- very soft.

I go back and forth about the decor, but in terms of pure bang for your buck, this place is awesome.  And the outside is stunning.  Crazy views of NYC and the NJ mountains, natural setting, hiking trails, etc.  We already spend time there for hiking so it feels good to get married somewhere with meaning.

@larrygaga Sorry, didn't mean to threadjack.  Bottom line, my venue has that carpet too, and I think you don't notice it that much once everything is decorated!

  • @larrygaga Ok but do listen to the ladies on here, trust me no one will notice the carpet once all the table and decorations are set up.They will be too busy looking at your dress anyway!!!

  • I think the only way I would have passed on a venue due to the carpet was if the carpet was filthy.  Not just a few small, barely noticeable stains, but down right disgusting.  If I don't want to walk on something with my shoes on then you aren't going to get my money.
