I swear I didn't have a PPD-vent

So we got our certified copy of our marriage license in the mail today. And the date is wrong! Now, I'm not sure if this is a mistake on the Officiant's part, or the Clerk at the town hall. But I know that our marriage license was filled out correctly. It's off by one day, but it's still annoying, that's not the date I got married.

Anyone know the time frame you have to fix a vital record?

  • It probably varies by state or county. Just call them and let them know. You may have to write a letter and have it notarized to change it. Someone I know didn't have any date on her marriage license so she had to get it changed.
  • It all depends on your state. I live in Indiana, and for us to change anything on the marriage license we have to have a court order to do so.

  • My BIL and his wife's officiant put the wrong year!  The priest put 2014 on the license when they married in 2012.  Weird part is that the state accepted it and issued the license in the future.  I know my SIL got it changed, but it was a lot of hassle for her.  I would start with the town or county, where you got the license.
  • Don't know about marriage licenses, but when my parents adopted my youngest sibs their names were wrong on the order of adoption.....    : /
