Domes or Miller Room

Does anyone have experience with the the Mitchell Park Domes or the O'Donnell Park Miller Room for a wedding reception?  Pros, cons, etc?

I've been to weddings at both.  I would choose the Miller over the Domes.  I didn't like the headtable set up at the Domes or the ceremony site...I couldn't see or hear anything.  Plus it's not the best neighborhood.  The Miller Room was very nice and a great view.  We looked at it, but FI really wanted a hotel.

I was at a wedding at the Domes in Jan. 2010.  I agree that it was very hard to see or hear during the ceremony.  The reception was o.k. and the light show at the end of the night was a nice alternative to fireworks.  We didn't haven any problems with the neighborhood.

I've never been to a wedding at either, but we did look into the Miller Room.  For the time of year we were looking for, they mentioned that because of the 3-4 different spaces they have at O'Donnell parks, they could potentially have up to 4 weddings going on at one time.  That was a huge turn off.  It worried me that the quality of service wouldn't be up to par with that much chaos going on.  In addition, with the O'Donnell parks being so close to the Summerfest grounds, there's a lot of people walking through the grounds and we were told there was no way to rope or block off the space being rented to avoid random people crashing the event.

I have attended weddings at BOTH the O'Donnell Campus (Where the Miller Room is located) and the Mitchell Park Domes - and it was my opinion that with either of these venues, you are getting a beautiful place to get married that is unmatched by a lot of the other "halls" and "banquet centers" in the Milwaukee area.

The Domes has so many ongoing events throughout the year, that location and surrounding neighborhood is not something to be concerned with. What I liked the most about it, is for the wedding attendees who were not that familiar with the area, or were not used to the "city" - they had the added security of the Domes staff and park Rangers (because it is located within the Milwaukee County Parks System) patrolling the area on a regular basis. I really believe that if there was enough to be concerned about, people wouldn't continue to have their weddings there!

As for the Miller Room - there is nothing better than having a wedding at the lakefront - the views, and just the whole "upscale night out on the (down) town" experience! You can't beat it. I believe there might have been another Wedding going on - the other side of the building. The O'Donnel Park Campus and Parking Structure is a pretty massive place - I saw no flaws in the service we received at the wedding we attended, and never noticed anything else going on, because we were too busy enjoying the beautiful evening!!!

Parking at O'donnel Park might be an issue since the parking ramp is still closed from the falling concrete.
