Looking For New Friends?

I just found a website that is just for women to make friends.  I thought some of you might be interested in it, too:

Re: Looking For New Friends?

  • Interesting! I may need this when I move. I work with mostly men and it's so hard to find friends that have similar interests (aka no kids).

  • So funny! I used this website when I was in a weird transition period: I had graduated college and was working two jobs, all of my college friends had moved away.

I only ended up chatting with a few girls, because it seemed a little odd to "online date" friends when a lot of these girls were completely comfortable with online-pen-pals (not meeting in person).

But I did meet one girl, she had an unusual job like me, we worked weird hours and just didn't have a lot of friends at the time..Long story short: I met one of my bridesmaids through this!
  • Interesting! I recently moved to a new state so no friends yet. Maybe I'll give it a shot

  • That sounds neat. When I moved across the country I was 22 and found it hard to make friends. I mean it's weird to talk to girls in a bar and ask for their number in a platonic way! I tried this website called Meetup where it's open to both sexes and it's just organized meetups like bowling or rafting or whatever. They had like "team leaders" who were originally from the area to show the newbies around. So I went to one meeting at an Irish Pub and it was WEIRD. I thought it was going to be all social people like myself and it wasn't. It was the biggest collection of socially awkward people who had no skills to carry on conversations. The local team leaders, I just looked at like "you've lived her forever and don't have your own friends?" I definitely never went back lol.

I'd also suggest getting involved in community activities like volunteering. I am really involved at my yoga studio that I joined in April and have made some friends there, too.
  • I might try this! I moved here in Jan and even though the college has a bunch of girls, they're either younger than me, or older than me or they're the same age and really immature.  I actually prefer hanging out with guy friends, but since the only guys I've met know that I'm engaged its really hard for them to understand that I can be friends with them, with out them meeting or being friends with FI.  I do need a few girl friends though for a grils night out!
