Divison over bridemaids dresses

we are at a impasse on dresses half wants to wear the first dress and the other half wants to wear the second dress.
The problem is one dress is chiffon and  the other dress is Nu-Georgette and neither has the same dress colors. The first dress we can get in Caribbean but not the second dress i would have to get it in the color spa has any one gotten dresses from two different designers with different fabric and colors?

They need not match. It will look fine. Plus, your bridesmaids will be happy.
  • I understand your problem.  I couldn't make my bridesmaids agree on anything either, so I ended up setting some parameters and letting them choose their own.  Maybe that would work for you.  I actually love the look of the different bridesmaids dresses, but if it's not for you, unfortunately you're going to have to tell your ladies that it's your wedding, this isn't a democratic process, and that you're sorry you couldn't accommodate everyone.

Alternately, you could scrap both of these dresses and find a third option that you love, and simply inform your ladies that you've made the decision.  That way, neither group will feel as though you're favoring the other.

The two dresses you've suggested are very different.  Does one fit better with your dress, the location, or the overall style of the wedding?  Explaining as much might help to mitigate any negative fall out from choosing a dress that half of your girls have told you they don't love.

    Best of luck with it!

The dresses are very different. I'd just pick one, personally.

  • I love the mismatched look, but half and half does strike me as odd, especially since they're SO different. Even the dresses in the pictures above look like the same fabric. If you really want a little more consistency, I think it's ok to insist upon it and give them a fabric and color to choose from. My girls only tried on dresses in the pre-determined color and fabric and then were free to get whatever they wanted within that.

  • I'm on the side of just picking a color & fabric (and maybe length too) and letting them pick out whatever they want. Giving them a designer so they can all get the same color can be helpful. Be it one of the designer names or even David's Bridal just to give you an idea.
  • I'd either just pick one one and tell the rest to suck it up. Or, I'd just open it up to any dress in this designers line (Dessy?) with the color I liked best.

I think it could work, but you could do as PP's suggested and either keep looking for a dress that everyone likes or just tell them a colour, material, length, etc. and let them pick their own dresses.  Below are some pictures to try to hlep you envision what two different dresses, colours, and materials will look like:
