Random things dogs do

Re: Random things dogs do

  • my poopy dog as i so affectionately call him is all of 22 lbs and is a "lab mix" per the Humane Association.  i think he's mixed with Jack Russell... He's very weird.

    - he likes to lick me half the time, like sit on my lap and will start licking my arm, or he'll lick my feet. odd
    - any time you walk by if he wants a belly rub, he will roll over on his back and open his leg up
    - he needs to have all of the toys out of the bin and wherever he is laying.. he also gets called smaug the dog for this its his hoard(like the dragon in LOTR)
    - he loves to borrow under the down comforter
    - he will only lay on something else soft on the floor, even on carpet he'll lay on a pillow, a blanket, the laundry I'm trying to fold.

These two are his weirdest though...
When sledding down a hill, he doesn't seem to think we will survive or be okay, he will chase us down barking and try to grab and stop us... he has bitten me through my sleeves before
We also found out recently this is the same for kids jumping into a pool... he's not keen on swimming and is okay when the kids walk into the pool and are playing with him by the edges and whenever, but as soon as they jump in, he goes CRAZZYYYY
  • The only thing weird about my 90+ lb dog is his GAS, and I mean GAS. Any suggestions for a low gas good?
  • Bulldogs are known for gas. We feed ours some raw venison and Blue Buffalo Wilderness Salmon (grain free). He doesn't really have much problem with gas. When he does most of the time I can trace it back to milk bones or something similar he was given at some store or the club (a lot of stores and such give out dog treats)

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • My little mutt is what the vet calls a "compulsive licker"; he wants to lick you all the time and then won't stop. If you move away, he'll follow you and lick you some more and will even start whining if he can't get to you.

He'll also force you to keep petting him if you stop (he shoves his head under your hand) and will bark in his sleep so loudly that he'll scare himself awake sometimes; and when you give him a bone or some treat he really likes when he isn't hungry, he'll look for a place to hide it. Most of the time, he can't find a place he thinks is good enough to hide his new treat, he'll start pacing around with the treat in his mouth and whining.

  • Oh also, one of our dogs tries to bite the lawn mower. He thinks the big machine is hurting his daddy
