Just think, if you cancel the shower one, two, five years from now you'll think on it with a pang of regret and embarrassment. If you take $1000 out of your house fund, yes that's painful and a bummer, but in 2020 you aren't going to think, "Thank GOD I saved that $1,000 back in 2014!"
