Winter USA Resort

I'm looking for recommendations for a resort (possibly all-inclusive) for a winter honeymoon--specifically the week between Christmas and New Year. Or perhaps a good hotel with lots of options nearby. (My FI has requested that he won't have to do much driving once we arrive at the destination.) We would like to stay in the US and are not decided on any specific area/location.

Spa access is good, but we are definitely outdoor people and would like to hike or have similar options (we don't ski though.) We are also interested in history and culture, good food and wine.

I've been looking at various lists of the "best" resorts in the US, but it's a bit much, especially since so many of the photos, etc. are geared towards summer travelers. I'd particularly like to hear from anyone who has actually been at a place like this in winter!

Thanks!

  • @CMGragain, that looks amazing! Thank you.
  • I live two hours north, in Grand Junction, CO.  This is a well known place with celebrities often staying in the area.

  • My FI has been dying to go to Telluride since he snowboards. But it's really expensive, especially Christmas week/ ski season. And won't it be completely covered in snow at that time so no hiking options? Just wondering.

There are no all inclusives in the US. There are a few places that may offer some type of meal plans (like Disney) but you won't find any of the beach resorts that have all inclusive food & drink. The alcohol is too much liability so the US doesn't allow it.

You could do Charleston,SC. It's very historic and would be temperate around that time of year. San Diego or Los Angeles would have a lot to see with decent weather. DC may be snowy but obviously many historical sites and walking around. Or Miami for the beach....I find it semi impossible for you to go hiking since the majority of states with mountains will be covered in snow.

Recently honored as one of the top resorts in the world.  It's on our travel list in the next year or two.  And it's all inclusive and secluded.
