Silver and Gold?

So stupid question, but I have to get some feedback.  I purchased my dream shoes which are light bronze Jimmy Choo (Evelyn) before dress shopping this past weekend.  I said yes to the dress which has a champagne color satin sash with glass crystals with more silver tones and I added capped sleeves which are very "blingy" and match --again on the silver side.  Can I still wear these shoes?  I think the answer is that I can wear whatever I want--it's my day, however I cannot get the whole silver gold thing out of my head.

    1) You should take "it's my out" out of your vocabulary. It sounds beyond bratty and self centered.
    2) I probably wouldn't wear the shoes you're describing.

Yes, you can wear whatever you want.  I always assumed the silver/gold thing was more because silver is harder than gold and damages it.  If they just looked flat out horrid together you wouldn't see any pieces of jewelry that use them both, and yet you do.

What's the dress like?  Will the shoes even be particularly noticeable?  I honestly can't remember what shoes any of the brides at any of the weddings I've ever been to were wearing.  I really don't think anyone will pay attention unless they're ridiculously eye catching.

Do you have photos, or links to both the dress and shoes?

It could just be my monitor, but the bronze of the shoes doesn't look as though it would clash with the silver tones of the dress, as described.

  • Do you have pictures or links to the dress and shoes?  Although, your attire is one of the few things something you can be "it's my day" about, so if you want to, just wear them.

  • Champagne is more of a gold. If gold and silver looked awful together, there would t be silver beads on a champagne sash. Light bronze sounds like a nice complement. Go for it.

  • Thank you for your options and thoughts Lolo, doeydo, & miss ! I don't have pictures of the added on sleeves or sash right now and the dress is just plain ivory Paloma Blanca. I'm just doing it!

I never posted on these boards and it was mostly because of responses like RebeccaFlower, but thank you for your honest opinion. Silly of me to take offense in a public forum. Anywayyyy.

In my opinion, one's bridal attire is all about the bride and what she is most comfortable wearing (and spending). The rest of the planning details have been and should be a "team effort" with what my fiancé and I envision for our day.
  • Some brides wear cowboy boots, some wear Toms, some wear Converse. Your selection sounds tame and perfect.
  • Congrats on your Jimmy Choos! Those will be just fine with silver. They have bits of silver on them. Knock yourself out and don't worry!
    Happiness is an inside job
  • I think they will look wonderful together. They both sound lovely, and if your dress is floor-length then no one will see the shoes much anyway. I mix silver and gold all the time. That old rule of not mixing the two is kind of out-dated these days.

  • If these are the shoes you are talking about...

The shoe itself is a silver/gold combination that will probably reflect whatever you have on. And the bronze color only refers to the heel and peep toe color (I think) which looks very champange-y to me. I think they will be a perfect match. Congratulations on the shoes!
