We are having a blend of live Serbian music and a DJ playing American music but what is good blend?

My fiance is Serbian and most of the wedding is full of Serbian traditions. To appease his dad and the traditionalists, we have hired a Serbian band who will be playing at the reception AND the second day of celebrations. Problem is neither myself or fiance really like Serbian music but I am trying to make sure that we don't insult anyone with limiting their playing time too much. We want all the Serbian guests to enjoy the reception and also want to dance with our friends to non-Serbian music. What is a good balance? 15 min of Serbian music and 45 of non-Serbian? 30 min for each and we trade off? 3 Serbian songs for every 6 non-Serbian songs? The Serbian band will be playing all day for the second day of celebrations but we need to have them play for at least part of the reception. Help?

I was at a Macedonia-centric wedding a few years ago with a similar situation .... bride's father WAS the band director of a popular Macedonian band (that played all the weddings and festivals) but, the bride and groom really wanted older and current American variety and dance music, too.  

I think the split was good for everyone (except maybe the band ha ha)

DJ music - cocktails 

Band - grand entrance, and beginning of dinner

DJ - second half of dinner, and spotlight dances

Band - open dancing (for about an hour)

And then, DJ and band traded off - about 30 - 45 minutes sets....
