Can't move in my mermaid...really nature of the beast??

For my entire wedding vision, I have always pictured myself in a beaded mermaid and finally found the dress of my dreams and bought it. When I tried the sample dress on it was a size 12 and I had to be clipped in so that I could see the "big picture." Problem is, I am a size 4 so when my real dress came in, it fit completely different. I never realized how hard it is to move in them! Actually, I literally can barely move at all, I was told you're not even supposed to sit, you're supposed to "perch!" I was never ever told any of this when trying them on, nor had I ever had such an issue as I do in my dress now, and I am freaking out that I won't have a good time or be able to dance or even sit properly without looking crazy, help!

I also had the same problem! I ordered a petticoat to wear underneath with a hoop so that not only did it give me some added flare, but opened up the bottom a little bit so that I could at least dance!

That offers a little relief! Did you have issues sitting and dancing or did it end up working out well in the end?

I wore a fit and flare style.  Same issue..tried on a size 18 in the store but my actual size was a 4.  When I put my dress on it was so snug and I was very worried. I could barely bend over, I couldn't imagine how I'd sit.  .  They ended up taking about 1/2" in the hips out which made a HUGE difference (this is where it was most tight on me)  It was still very fitted but i could move and sit..and breath..and go to the bathroom.   Mine was lace and I still had to sit slowly with amazing posture, but it was comfortable enough and by the end of the night even loosed up a bit.

My wedding isn't until December, so I still don't know about the sitting part...I don't even think I'm going to be able to sit to be honest, so I'm not too worried about that! I do however want to dance so I made sure the petticoat gave me the room I needed in the leg/foot area to do some moving around :)

    You'll be fine!

My dress was a fit and flare, not a real mermaid, but I had to be sure to lift the skirt up & slide on the chair with one butt cheek, not just plop down and that helped a lot.
