Asked to throw a baby shower at work

Oh no... I opened my email this morning to a request from a superior to "put together a cute email and send it out to everyone to collect money for so and so's baby shower." I am going to die. I've railed against baby showers at work for the past 3 years and now I'm being asked to essentially throw one. What does a "cute" email even look like? Ugh.

Re: Asked to throw a baby shower at work

  • Lame. I would just send out a generic email with info of who to give money to. Are they planning on giving cash or actually having a shower with food and gifts? Uhg.
  • Can you just tell her that's not something you're comfortable with, and ask if someone else can do it?

They always collect cash and do an hour long shower with food and gifts. I feel like a total hypocrite, though, because I've always been against showers at work but I know they're going to throw me a bridal shower. I didn't want to be rude and refuse it. I'm a people pleaser in real life.

Maybe I'm a jerk, but if they do a shower for all these events and you contribute, there's nothing wrong with having one for yourself.
