Needless to say, there's now an opening at that school.

I don't think that would necessarily be true for the schools around here.  A couple of years ago one teacher stabbed another teacher in front of students in the hall and she was on the payroll for like 2 years before they could fire her.

Wonder if she still gets retirement...

I would suspect that teacher had tenure? The one in the article was new to the school, so she wouldn't have it. I would hope in both cases that the teachers would be kept away from the students. Especially the stabbing. Who is to say the teacher wouldn't stab a student? That's dangerous.

I remember seeing a special on education in America a few years ago.  They talked about a city (maybe NYC) that had a building where all the teachers who aren't allowed to be around kids spent their "work" day.  They couldn't fire them because of tenure and the union but they couldn't let them teach so they paid them to do essentially nothing while they paid another person to teach their classes.

  • See this is why I don't teach. No one gives a shit if I show up drunk with no pants on to be an artist, hell it's down right expected. But if you're a teacher, the police have to get involved.

@MagicInk - You got a new siggy.  :(  I like the old ginger.  She was hot.

ETA - I suck at spelling

Yeah I decided to give Felicia Day a break for awhile. I was looking for a good Karen one but this Brittney one made me laugh.
  • Felicia Day??  I was wondering who she was.  I'm off to Google now.

She's FANTASTIC. Fall in love with her. I have.
  • Already done. She was in Bring it On Again, which is upstairs on my DVD shelf. I will find time to watch it this weekend!! :)

  • @MagicInk, please, please tell me you've seen the episodes of Supernatural that she's in.  She's awesome in pretty much everything she's in (I recently realized she was in Buffy toward the end...though just about every other big Joss Whedon actor turned up toward the end of Buffy/Angel).  But she and Dean are one of my favorite platonic couples, they're so adorable!

My husband's advice on tattoos is never go to a drunk tattoo artist.  He has two.  One of which you look at going "what is that supposed to be"?

Yes yes yes!!!!! I love her and Dean, they're adorable and I want her to always be with them hunting the baddies.
  • This reminds me of my old high school. One of our principles was busted by the police when he tried to pick up a guy hooker. That was interesting. One teacher was fired because the police found a lot of pot in her house and they thought it was hers. Turns out it was her son and he was operating a pot business and was shipping it to a lot of people. She didn't get her job back though, that was sad.

  • I hate when my state makes the news for stuff like this. *head desk*
