Photos within the casino

Hi ladies, I've seen various pictures ladies have posted with pictures within the actual casino (at the craps table and slots). How accommodating are the casinos with these types of photos? My FI and I love Vegas and travel there a couple of times a year and would love to incorporate these types of pictures on our wedding day. We're not sure if we are hiring an outside photographer or if one of our friends (he is a photographer) will be joining us and take the pictures of our day. I'm not sure if hiring an actual Vegas photographer will make it easier to get photos like this or if it really matters. Any tips would be helpful as it would help us make our decision. Thanks!

  • I've got a long list of tips related to this at http://www.vegasgroom.com/Is-it-legal-to-take-photos-in-a-casinos-gaming-area_81.html

Basic idea though is that no, casinos do not permit photography in the gaming area, so for that reason, don't ask, just do it. :-)  If you're quick, you should not have trouble, just try to avoid doing it near the cashier booth or pointing in a direction that has the cashier in the background; that tends to get security involved a lot quicker.  My wife and I did photos with our whole wedding party around a craps table at Mandalay; we set up the shot in a few seconds, took several pictures and were out of there before they could say anything.

  • Great info! I've been on your site quite a bit this weekend but never saw that. Thank you for the link! I will need to talk to our friend that might do the photos to see if he'd be up to doing this. lol Might be a better idea to just hire an experienced Vegas photographer....

  • The largest benefit to hiring a local is the knowledge of the best places to shoot around a given resort. We got married at Mandalay so our photog knew a bunch of obscure out of the way places around the resort that made for great pictures. I'm sure you'll get plenty of great pics either way though, so having your friend do it would probably be fine too.

  • Yeah, that's what we were thinking as well. Someone with experience in Vegas might be a benefit to us for photos that we might have not even thought of.
