Cocktail hour + dinner hour = two(+) hours .... so, make sure it's music you like! I like standards, so Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble are great, and the variety of songs they have are familiar, upbeat, and set a great tone for a cocktail and dinner party. But ... other music is great two, and remember you've got likely two plus hours. What other music do you and your fiance like? When you think of other music you like, can you see it fitting in for dancing? If no to dancing, cocktails and dinner is a great time to showcase your musical personalities.

Important point #1 - You can't go wrong with your first thought about this ... the Sinatra/Buble feel is beloved with all ages.

Important point #2 - How about cocktail music with a different feel than dinner music?  When deciding on songs, if you won't be there during cocktails, just make sure you don't have your favorites then.

Important Point #3 - Eclectic combinations of ideas can work!

Here are a few "type" ideas to get you thinking about what YOU Like ... or want ...

Indie Rock - Avett Brothers, She & Him, Lumineers, Mumford and Sons, Passion Pit, etc ...

Singer/Songwriter - Jack Johnson, Daivd Grey, Ingrid Michaelson, etc...

Recent/Older Lite Pop - Andy Grammer, Mike Postner, Bruno Mars, Colbie Callait, Plain White Ts

60s - 70s RB - Earth Wind Fire, Stevie Wonder, (non dancing) Michael Jackson, Al Green....

Country Hits - slow to mid tempo - old or new

    House/Chill/Lounge -

Or, anything you want    .....  :-)

  • we DJ'd our own wedding and put together separate playlists for cocktails, dinner, and dancing. Everything above is a great suggestions!
  • i have a lot of oldies, mainly Motown, going on during my cocktail hour and dinner. Al Green, the Temptations, etc.
    Daisypath Anniversary tickers

  • The Piano Guys, Norah Jones, Chris Mann,  and for the old folks to get nostalgic, Duke Ellington Orchestra.
