Please give me recommendations for places to get a cake in milwaukee. I am trying to keep it simple/cheaper. Please include prices if you know it! thanks!

    Cakes by Stephanie in Menomonee Falls is cheap and great.  We used her for our 09/09 wedding and people are still raving about how good the cake was.  Price was around 1.50/slice, free delivery.  Her website isn't great, I recommend calling her.

    P.S.  Don't be scared by the old fashioned looking cakes on her website.  We gave her a picture of a modern, square cake and she recreated it beautifully.

    I used A Little Slice of Heaven in Oconomowoc.  The info is on the Knot vendor list for WI.  Lynn Reimer is the lady that runs it and makes fantastic cake at a reasonable price!

    For cakes by stephanie - i got her informational packet - she only gives one free consultation?? Am i going to need more than that? My FI and I have a pretty good idea of what we want, and have pictures to show her but the extra consultation fee scares me, plus she charges for cake tasting??

    I second Cakes by Stephanie. We ordered 3 cakes to taste and it was totally worth it. The 3 layer cake we got ended up being around $240.00.  I'm not sure why you'd need another consultation.

    I don't think a second consultation is necessary.  I met with her about a month before the wedding, gave her a photo of the cake we wanted and that was it.  We paid for two sample cakes and it was still cheaper (and tastier) than elsewhere.  Even though she charges for the tasting cake, you get an entire cake.  We used them for family birthday cakes, she decorated them as such.  We had a 3 tier cake for 1.50/person in 2009.  There was no sheet cake to lower the cost.
