Any Suggestions?

I just got engaged last month, and we are looking to get married next June.  So, we are just starting the big process of planning! We are on a pretty tight budget and are going for the laidback/country/outdoor type of wedding. So far, all I have is a photographer (friend of family). Any other suggestions for reasonable, good vendors in the area? (We are looking to get married in the southeastern WI area).

Re: Any Suggestions?

  • How many people are you inviting?

  • Olympia Resort. They have a tent or indoor and Gretchen (the Wedding Coordinator) is amazing!
  • The Flower After - Amazing florist, reasonable prices and will work with a tight budget

KK Photography - Honestly one of the best photographers in the state.  At key points in the night, I looked around and was like where is the photographer...and she was there taking the photo before I even thought to ask.  Then I felt stupid.  I never had to worry that she wasn't going to capture the moment.  Our photos turned out great and again, she works really well with a tight budget.
    kkphotography.com ~ Kathy Kohl, photographer

Double Platinum DJ Service ~ Individual, personal service that will keep your guests happy all night.  The owner gives you a book with popular songs from all types of music.  You highlight what you love, cross off what you don't like, make any notes you need and give them all the details (bridal party, etc).  He coordinates the rest from there.  It was great working with him.  He also offers other services, like lighting, photo montage and gobo lighting.

Gourmet Cheesecake Shope & More ~ Ok, I admit my bias on this one...my grandmother owned this place when I was little...so I always knew I would have their cake.  The owner now is Sue.  She makes great cake that everyone loved.  Take a photo, a drawing of what you want and she can do it.  All my guest were impressed and delighted and those of my family that had tried the cheesecake before felt like it was a member of the family.

Royal Limo Company ~ Great to work with and negotiable pricing.  They even picked me up from my apartment, took me and my maid of honor to the ceremony, picked up all the guys, took them to the ceremony and stocked and iced the beverages.  They guarantee on time or it is free!  How can you beat that? Also, again, great on the budget.  Talk to Kevin, he'll take care of you.

We got married at the Polish Center of Wisconsin.  Which has a Great Hall.  About enough space for 150 people seated.  There is this great two story window so it feels like an outdoor setting without having to chance the weather, the reciving line can be indoors or outdoors in this really pretty garden.  They also have a banquet hall but we didn't have our reception there.
My only minor issue we had was that the coordinator on the day of didn't even check on us or say hi.  We had no issues but it would have been nice to know the person in charge.

Our reception was at the Pulaski Inn.  Amazing Food.  Great Service!  Big space which you can pretty much arrange how ever you want.

I've included some photos below so you can see the great job they did.

  • I have had two friends get their wedding flowers from Pick n Save (yes, the grocery store) and they did a surprisely amazing job.  You have to go there knowing exactly what you want, but you can save a lot of money....For my wedding I will be having a family friend grow wild flowers and will be using those.  I'm doing the budget thing too and will also be having a friend make cupcakes (she used to be a caterer...so I trust her) and then will get a small cake from the bakery to cut.  For music I will be using my ipod and renting a sound system to hook it up to.   That way we get to pick music that is special to us, we are completely happy with, and save money at the same time.   But, it all depends on what you guys decide you want...everyone's tastes are different!
  • thank you all for the great suggestions!
