Bored with my hair

So I'm debating getting peek a boo highlights to keep me distracted while my hair grows out. Thoughts? Would such highlights make me look too young?

This one shows the color I'd want, and my hair is about that shade of brown.

I love dark brown and red highlights together. The highlights in the second picture are my favorite, I like how it has more of a color blocking effect. I'm not a huge fan personally of the red and blond highlights together thought- that seems more young-ish to me.

I wouldnt get the blonde highlights like in the second pic, I'd just do all red. But I like where the highlights are there.

 I also like the second set of highlights. I think to pull the first one off, it would depend on your style, and also depend on how old you are. If you're in your twenties, I'd say your safe. Any older, and I think it has to suit who you are, kinda thing. There's a woman I work with, (in her early 40s), who has blonde hair, and red, or sometimes dark purple highlights, and it always looks super awesome on her! Plus, she has a funky kind of style. So, as I said before, in my opinion, after 30, it just depends on the type of style you have. (and probably something I would ask friends, who know you). 

 P.S: Just FYI, red hair dye fades *fast*. It only keeps that vibrant look for a couple of weeks! (Sometimes, if that). In the past, I've done them cheaper, and I've gone really pricey, to see if it makes a difference, and it doesn't by much. I've even bought the fancy hair shampoos, for that specifically, and I might get an extra week out of it. My natural colour is almost the same as the second pic you have up too, and looks amazing with a red, but it never lasts!

I love the first and second one.  The blonde in the 3rd is a little too much for my tastes.  But I'm sure whatever you pick will be amazing.  I get bored with my hair all the time.

Highlights and colouring are all good but I honestly think you should let your hair grow and not put any chemicals in it while it's growing. It'll help it stay healthier and longer for longer! Haven't dyed my hair in 2 years and now it's at the tip of my butt crack (sorry about that lol).

Yes- I used to complain about my hair all of the time, now I'm bald as can be! I am thankful I was at least able to salvage my hair in the form of a wig

I get bored with my hair all the time, haha. I usually end up going to the salon and saying, hey, donate this chunk and cut it short.

Won't be doing that for a while though - it takes it forever to get out of that in-between phase where it looks shaggy and acts annoying, and I JUST got out of that phase a few months ago. I'm going to let it grow (with random leave-it-long trims) until after the wedding next fall, and then I intend to chop it off again and send it to Pantene or Locks of Love or somebody who can do something with it. 

Brother has a hair school test for the honors program coming up in the next couple of weeks though. He called me and asked if I wanted to take advantage of a free cut/color. I told him that so long as he doesn't dye me bleach blond (literally any other color would be fine, my hair is just too dark to go that light) or cut me too far above the shoulders, he could have at. I'm looking super forward to it.

I had fire engine red peekabo highlights and loved them.  They even faded awesome.  I would highly recommend Option 2.

So, I made an appointment for this coming Friday, I'm gonna get the red done. Not sure if I'll go bright red or violet-red yet. 

I haven't told anyone IRL, so I think I'm going to shock quite a few people next weekend. 

And I promise I won't chop my hair short again until it's long enough to donate.

I'm not a fab of the third picture hair, but the first two are cute.  Give it a try, why not?
