It's already started...

I get married (!!!) on Saturday, and last night I had a LOT of trouble falling asleep because I am so excited.  When I finally did manage to fall asleep, when I woke up in the middle of the night I was wide awake and had trouble going back to sleep.

I know I will have trouble sleeping Friday night because I never sleep well when I am excited about something.  What I didn't bet on was the trouble sleeping starting so early.  I am going to be a zombie by Saturday if this keeps up!

On the plus side, I only work 3 days this week.  And I get married on Saturday!  :D

  • Enjoy! The days before the wedding, just relax and have fun! I wish I had a Go pro camera for everything leading up to the wedding. I enjoyed the crazy stress :)

I am the same way! I already struggle falling asleep at night because my mind just keeps THINKING! So when there is something to be excited about it makes it so much worse! I highly suggest drinking chamomile tea before bed and/or taking Melatonin (found in the vitamin section). Both assist in relaxation but don't actually knock you out. So continue to get to bed on time and relax yourself (also try some meditation and focus on relaxing certain parts of your body as you go to sleep). Good luck and congrats!!!!

You could try getting some melatonin to help you sleep.

     Super exciting, and a pre-congrats!!

I'm the same way! I'm in my mid twenties, and still can't sleep Christmas Eve, before a trip, or before family or friends come into town. I get wayyy too excited! I remember the week leading up to our wedding, & being terrified I wouldn't sleep either! Honestly though, I was sooo insanely busy the last couple of days before, and then the night before, that I didn't sleep "that" bad! We finished setting up my DIY stuff, and whatnot, the night before, at like 2AM, and I slept through until around 7:15! This *is* sleeping for me! (Especially well, because I was so excited for sooo long)! I think you live off of the adrenalin, because at no point on our wedding day, was I tired! :)

     Good luck!

I second the melatonin, I use it when I'm having trouble--and no grogginess the next morning!

Other than that, I got nothing--I was the exact same way!

  • Congratulations!  I know you feel about not being able to sleep.  The community here had some interesting and useful suggestions for me when I was having issues with it.  http://forums.theknot.com/discussion/1036141/bloody-insomnia#latest

I hope you get some sleep soon!  I'd suggest trying to get in a bunch of exercise, if you have the time.

  • Congrats!!! The amount of sleep I lost during wedding planning was too damn high. But for some reason, the night before the wedding, I slept without any problems at all. I think I was at peace with the fact that that the train had left the station and i was just along for the ride.

  • Thanks all!  Everything for the wedding is done, so I am not even stressed about anything right now.  It is really just the pure excitement of getting to marry FI.

Since so many of you recommended it, I think I will stop by the store after work to see if I can get some melatonin.  If I won't be groggy the next day, it sounds like it is a good idea for the next few days.  I don't want to be so tired that I wear my cranky pants with my wedding dress.  They don't really go together.
