TMI: Aunt Flo is coming to the wedding!

I just realized. Thankfully I'm on the pill and can skip it. There's a good chance it will mostly be gone by Saturday, but I don't want to deal with having it the week of.

Now, I admittedly get really bad PMS. I tend to get overly irritable, especially when I'm stressed out. I'm so worried I'm going to be a total nightmare. I wonder if I can hire a masseuse and a yogi and have them follow me around all week?

  • AHHHH!  This is one of my biggest wedding nightmares!  And no pill here, just lots of prayer ;)

Hopefully skipping the sugar pill week will help with the, uh, flow itself, and with the fun symptoms that come along with it!

That might get expensive. I'd suggest carrying a neverending supply of wine and chocolate instead.
This could most definitely work too. Looks like I'll finally have to order this thing.

  • It happened to me. It wasn't ideal, but it wasn't as bad as I feared either. I just popped Midol (for the first time in my life), and tried to take it easy. Lots of deep breathing!
  • I have never been so happy to get my period when it came 2 weeks before my wedding. It was so nice to be in the clear!

  • Yeah, I remember when I had that realization.  I am on the pill, so I ended up moving it to the week before the week of my wedding a few months ago.  It was a good thing too.  Of course THIS month I ended up gaining close to 10 pounds of water weight with bloat.  My face was all puffy and my fingers swelled.  It is never that bad, but this month it was.  I could not have fit into my dress that way.  I would definitely skip it if you can!

For the past year, I have gotten my period on Wednesday every 4 weeks... without fail. Just took a look at the calendar, and if the pattern continues on... I'll be getting it the Wednesday before my wedding :-( Luckily my period only lasts 2-4 days, but still.
  • I had the same realization two months out....terrible symptoms but I had just enough time to put myself on the pill and skip it the month of our wedding and the following month for our vacation. Not ideal but it worked. I too second the votes for wine and chocolate!

  • I just looked and I'm scheduled for a week before. Hmmm. Maybe I should go see a doctor because if I happen to be late, that would not be fun. I dont want to miss sexytimes with FI. We are long distance so we don't get very many sexytimes.

Isn't the MOH's job to keep you calm and support you? I'd put her on notice that she will be on call for foot massages and wine delivery for the week leading up to your wedding. And she can do your errands for you, while you nap

This is perfect. Maybe I can also get her to host FMIL.
  • FMIL and Aunt Flo at the same time? You poor, poor girl.

  • At least your on the pill so you can skip it. I asked my Dr about that and if it was safe and she said it was totally fine just recommends not doing it more then 3-4 times in a row...

  • You just made me double check my calendar. I should be done with mine by wedding day.

I've heard that wedding stress sometimes makes you skip though... maybe you have nothing to worry about? Eh, skip the sugar pills, just in case.

  • I'm not so worried about having it on the day-of, but I am terrified of having it on our honeymoon. There are a lot of all-day excursions that I won't be able to/won't want to do if it comes then, and that's going to suck.

  • Oh Climbing, I hope you'll figure that one out! Try to stay clam and relaxed if you can before the wedding. During my stressful weeks waiting for my Visa, I got some spotting and I NEVER get spotting. Stress can do a lot. And I'm on the pill. I already counted my dates on my little packets and no Aunt Flo for me!
