What are your currently working on?

I absolutely have to finish addressing our wedding invitations by Monday. We are sending roughly 103-ish actual invitations and I have about 20 or so complete. I despise doing them, and I know...I know....that fiance should be helping but his handwriting is so gosh darn awful that I'm punishing myself by doing them all.

We also need to finish spray painting wine bottles this Saturday. I told myself that we couldn't begin working on the bouquets and boutonnieres until they were finished (because these will be MUCH more fun than dumb old wine bottles). We have about 50 more wine bottles that the labels need to be removed from and then spray painted gold.

What fun or not fun things are you all currently tackling?!

Re: What are your currently working on?

  • We are tackling setting up our storage unit and really paring down the house before I start work.  I'll be out of the house from about 6:45AM-8, 9, 10PM or later so there is a huge danger that things will go to hell in a hand basket.  My theory is that the emptier it is, the less it will get messed up.  So I'm packing up china, out of season clothes, etc. and really filling that little storage unit to the brim.

I'm currently meal planning and grocery shopping online.  I feel great on this grain-free diet, actually, but it makes convenience eating so difficult.  I'm going to make little frittatas and freeze them.

As for the wedding, I'm currently working on freaking out.  Oh well.

"I'm not a rude bitch.  I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."

  • I go back to work in 2 days.  :(  But I've spent the summer working on my tumbling.  I have tryouts again in 1 week for cheer (eek!!), and I did a bunch of private lessons to try a get a new skill (round off back handspring back tuck).  Didn't work too well, as I started twisting out of the round off and into the handspring.  I got it fixed last night though, so I'm super pumped for tomorrow's lesson.

If I just wrote a bunch of gibberish, here's a video of what I'm working on:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noywWl_qyhg

This is not me by the way.  I can do the first 2 things, and I can do the last, I've just never put them together.

  • I'm working on trying not to get fired, and doing a pretty shitty job of it (as evidenced by my omnipresence here). I'm so unmotivated.

WR... patience, lol. I need to finish my veil and guest book, do escort cards, programs, and the tags for the favors. Then wait until the 11th when I can actually assemble centerpieces and favors.

My (hopefully last) dress fitting is Thursday! Pray for me that it fits and my veil matches!

  • I've been working on turning a small cabinet into a mini bar, and i've been working on a prop for the costume I'm making for a convention in February. The cardboard base is done, and I'm now adding expanding foam to it.

  • Getting the labels off the bottles was the hardest part. My advise is to use fabric softener.

I'm working on my song list and my table seating.
  • NWR: Getting through this week! Ugh, 6 days, 8 shows, 5 serving shifts and then 2 weeks off! I've never had two weeks off (unless I was unemployed), so FI and I are super excited? Granted, our bank account will cry, but what, can you do?

WR: Table numbers are almost finished- just waiting on the diagram of the venue with tables setup so we can figure out where everyone goes and then work on the escort cards. FI is working on our photo montage (that will play in a loop in a complete separate room with comfy couches). I also need to finish attaching ribbon to our ring bearer pillow/champagne flutes/cake server that match our colors. Or not, lol.

  • not a damn thing. I have short-timers because we leave next week for an OOT wedding. Work is driving me crazy and I just want a break.

  • I'm working on making myself look productive at work. It's one of the lull periods in our production schedule, but I don't feel like taking on any extra tasks this month. I'm very intently sorting and deleting files from our scanned document server.

WR: Finishing addressing save the dates. Had FI proofread them Friday, and he started having major second thoughts over not inviting his coworkers. So, I'm also looking into new venues. Currently, we're planning on having everything at FILs' house, and there is a venue available in their community, but I am waiting to see if they will allow my caterer/add her to the preferred vendors list.

NWR: Little house projects in preparation for bigger projects. We have been wavering on whether to move or stay here. We live near where they are building a new stadium, and there has been an immediate, noticeable increase in construction. So, basically we decided to stay and hope that our property values skyrocket!

In the time we're waiting, we'll fix up our house so that when we are ready to move we have all the necessary upgrades. So far, it's just been deep cleaning and decluttering. It's amazing how much crap we can fit into tiny closets. Then, our big projects are new windows, new floors, and kitchen and bathroom renos. edit: trying to make paragraphs

  • I am currently working on not going completely crazy until 4pm when I can finally leave work and start my vacation.  But in the mean time I just finished taking notes during a teleconference and I now have to turn those notes into formalized minutes.  Nothing like having to relive boring meetings twice!

  • I love Criminal Minds.   I discovered it in January on ION TV and A&E.
I'm working on kicking cancer's ass!!! And making my way through 100 episodes of Criminal Minds on Netflix.

I don't think you should send Save the Dates to coworkers anyway. Those relationships can be super hedgy... you might think you'll always be friends with them but if one of them quit or got fired tomorrow, can you guarantee you'll still be close enough to want them at your wedding?

@chibiyui I want to see a picture of the mini bar when it is complete!

Yeah, I was really unclear about that, haha. I actually don't plan to order more or send them to coworkers, but if we go with a venue in a neighboring town, I feel like I would need new save the dates to reflect that. I got them cheap from VistaPrint, so while I don't like throwing away money, it's not a huge cost to swallow. Although, we may also just keep it at the house. We are going out there this weekend, so I'm hoping to get it all nailed down then.

  • I'm currently working on getting my iphone 5 to work. It decided to die on me this morning and not charge. I've tried everything, went to the AT&T store a little while ago, nada. Looks like I'll have to go to the Apple store and demand that they fix or replace my phone. Which means I'll probably have to fork over money. Ugh. Another productive day at work will be spent today....

@Chibiyui, if you need help I will come over and drink everything the mini bar will contain and yell criticisms at you while you work.

As for me, we just sent out our invites, minus 10 or so that will be hand-delivered. It's a huge relief to have them out. This week we are continuing to tackle our registry, which isn't that big, it's just hard to find the time to take care of it.

NWR: I need to deep clean the house. We're two months from the wedding & I expect we will be accumulating a lot of WR-stuff for centerpieces, decorations, etc. I want to start clean, so that is going to have to happen. I actually don't mind cleaning, but I really need to be in the mood.

  • We're continuing to deal with house projects that are taking far too long. My bachelorette is next weekend and 2 out of town friends are staying with me so we need to get shit done. I'm anxious about that.

Wedding related: I'm folding more kusudama flowers for my topiaries. I had one done and the 2nd close to done before deciding that I probably had time to make the bigger size that I originally wanted. Dumb idea.

  • We are currently still assembling our centerpieces. We only have half of one finished... It was complete, but then fell apart. I guess it's better to find out now than on the day-of.

Also, FI recently decided he's going to make the flower girl dresses! He had a very specific idea in his head of what he wanted them to look like. He couldn't find it anywhere in-store or online, so he went and bought patterns and all of the fabric this weekend. I have faith in him. :)

  • NWR: I'm working on trying not to puke. I thought I was going to be one of the 25% who escapes MS, but I fear that was a pipe dream.

Post-WR: random wedding gifts continue to show up so we're still trying to keep up with Thank You notes. H wants to write something in all of them, too. Sweet, but it's slowing down the processes a bit.

  • I'm co-hosting my FSIL's couple's shower Saturday. Luckily her, FFIL is frying fish so I don't have so much food to prepare.

Then I'm going to my friend's bridal shower (I'm her MOH) Sunday afternoon and am in the process of planning her a surprise Bach party for that night.

Related to my wedding? I'm trying to find a caterer and making sure I have all addresses for the guest list.

  • @emmaaa daaaaang girl, you have a LOT of wedding in your life right now!

  • I'm now working on writing notes to some knotties who sent some love my way! I apologize for my horrible penmanship.

FI brews his own beer and to wash his bottles, he uses OxyClean. We just fill the sink with hot water, sprinkle in some OxyClean and put the bottles in to soak. This helps get labels off and you don't have to deal with any suds.

  • @emmaaa daaaaang girl, you have a LOT of wedding in your life right now!
Tell me about it! A family friend (who is my hair girl) got married at the beginning of this month, my friend is getting married September 13, and FSIL (also a BM) is getting married October 11. Thank goodness I'll have November without any wedding before mine in December.

  • No wedding stuff for me, since we're in a good place right now given the timeline. Still find myself scouring TK...

FI and I moved into a new apartment on Saturday. Since I don't start my new job until the end of September, I've taken over unpacking. Also, I'm trying to keep myself from spending oodles of money on new storage organization and furniture. Ah, the joys of a new place.

Mom's getting here today though, and hopefully she'll whip the place into shape like mothers always do. I think she's bringing a case of wine as a housewarming present too... yay!

Nail polish remover with acetone or pure acetone works wonders for sticky gunk on bottles, and hair dye in a white sink.

NWR: Fi decided to take the lilac tree stump out in the front yard, with a tractor.  Now I have mud for a front yard, a giant hole for a 400lb stump and one more tree to come down.

WR:I have to organize all the decorations that have been coming in and taking over my spare room.
