I'm so jealous of all your beautiful venues! We wanted to get married either at a lodge in the mountains or on the bluffs by the ocean but some of our VIPs couldn't travel here. Due to logistics, we had to book a hotel in my hometown that was nothing special. I don't have any pictures of the ballroom, but here is the last-minute-change-to-indoors ceremony space.

We're getting married at a sort of odd venue, which used to be the human quarantine center in Sydney during the nineteenth and into the mid twentieth centuries.  It's now a hotel, and from what I hear, pretty nice.  I haven't actually been there since it was a museum/national park run by the government, so it's a huge gamble, but I loved the quirkiness of it (and the fact that at least a handful of the guests are telling me that they're petrified of ghosts turning up at the wedding).

Out of curiosity, do they allow you to have real flowers? Wilson Island, where we married, would not allow real flowers because it's an Australian National Park and they have strict preservation rules. So, I was curious if that was the same across the board or if it was a Barrier Reef thing!

We are getting married in an old silent movie theater!! It has a great wooden dance floor, vaulted ceilings, and the cutest outdoor patio. EEEEK!!

ClimbingBrideNY - the Mohonk Mountain house is gorgeous! My friend actually got engaged there a couple of years ago.

Here is our venue, it is at the Central Park Boathouse in NYC. The venue sits on a lake in Central Park, and we can arrange for gondolas with a gondolier during the wedding. We instantly fell in love with it.

Here's the venue we currently have booked. It's called the Solarium.



But we're seriously considering downsizing, scrapping everything we've planned, and having the wedding at a restaurant. This is where we'd like to have it, budget permitting.

I didn't get very good pics while I was there, but here it is... It's not actually a park, it's an outdoor catering facility!

We're getting married in his hometown church, and I've only been there once and didn't take my own pics.

This is my venue--it's an industrial museum.  I have frequent moments where I second-guess it because it's definitely unconventional and it's a teeny bit smaller than we would have liked, but we didn't want cookie-cutter and it's definitely not cookie-cutter, so here goes nothing .  .  .

@Jells2Dot0 They've recommended a florist to me, so I'm assuming it's not a problem.  I'm sure there's some sort of condition on the lease taken out by the hotel that bends some of the national park rules, although a lot still apply.

Loved our venue! It is an old plantation turned museum (http://www.goodwoodmuseum.org/). The grounds are gorgeous. Receptions are inside the carriage house.
