*Spoiler Alert* PLL Discussion

I know many of you are also PLL fans, so let's talk about the finale.

For starters, I found this season to be really slow, but last night made up for it.  I was surprised they killed off Mona, I liked that there were two villain-type characters. The end with her eyes open completely freaked me out. 

I can't wait till October, even if it is a teaser episode! What was everyone else's reactions? Predictions for next season?

I kind of saw it coming, there was A LOT of Mona in last night's episode. I didn't fully believe it though until the scene with her in the trunk. 

Last night's episode had some very... interesting... parts. Like, when they snuck into Radley, they sent Mona and Spencer? You know, since they've never been there and wouldn't be noticed by anyone (which obviously they weren't but really?). 

Hanna is suddenly a genius? Don't get me wrong, I love her, she is my favorite Liar but really?

I don't know what to think about who killed her though. Clearly they want us to think it's Ali since they hated each other and since we saw the killer's hair but that just seems to obvious.

@swazzle & I were trying to figure out who it was, and we just really didn't want it to be Caleb. Pretty early on in the episode, Swazzle mentioned that it had to be Mona who was going to die, because there was SO.MUCH.MONA in the episode. 

I'm starting to pick up on some of the more ridiculous things in the show, though. Like, really, send the two girls who have BEEN COMMITTED TO RADLEY into Radley?? And FFS, now Toby is going to wear a full cop uniform every episode? And I know I'm in the minority, but the Ezra/Aria relationship squicks me the fuck out. Aria's parents are REALLY going to invite him to Thanksgiving dinner with the whole family?? 

I realize that it's not award-winning television, but some of it makes me head tilt.

And yes, the shot of Mona in the trunk with her eyes opened freaked me out. They definitely wanted us to know that she is FOR SERIOUS dead.

AND! The whole decorating for Christmas before Thanksgiving "tradition" was weird as hell! 

Since when does Emily LOVE Christmas that much?!

There was so much Mona, so I suspected her, but I really thought it was going to be Toby since he graduated the police academy. 

I don't think the killer was Ali, it was blonde hair, but it was shorter then hers (and not as short as Hanna's). They keep hinting towards twins, just like the book.  I'm wondering if that is who the real A is, Ali's twin.  Tried to find an image, but no luck. I could have been imagining things. 

As much as I love the show, all the stupid things really bother me. First, the fact that the spirits from Ravenswood followed Caleb and made the Ouija board move. I don't understand how or why Hanna is now a genius, or why Spencer & Mona went into Radley.  It also cracks me up that these girls are allowed to go out anywhere on their own.  If one of my friends went missing and then was found to be killed, my parents would never let me go anywhere alone. The fact that people keep getting killed and none of the parents have tried to do anything baffles me.

The only couple I like is Caleb & Hanna.  The whole Ezra and Aria relationship was too creepy from the start, and now... I just don't get it.

I haven't seen it but I like to torture myself -- What about CiCi?  Didn't she want to be like Ali?  Wouldn't she see taking Mona out as helping her out?

Anybody watch Under the Dome - talk about continuity problems; you throw a bomb at the Dome and withing 2 weeks there's a whole forest and roads and everything outside of the Dome again like the bomb never happened???

I always feel like I have to leave logic out of understanding thus show, I mean really... They should have gone to the police a billion times but they don't. I also don't think I'm okay with the ghost plans. I've always loved the Ezra/Aria story because he's sexy... But I'm not really buying that Aria can just forgive that betrayal!


Lastly, it couldn't have been Ali, otherwise they would show her face. I think @speakeasy14‌ may be on to something about the twin sister. Ally told the story while she was babysitting that little boy that her sister was murdered, then in a Halloween episode a little ghost girl shows up to Ashley and talks about her mean sister... Also when they went to ravenswood there were those two twin girls in red coats...

Apparently in the books, Alison has a twin sister who's mentally unstable and is in Radley for a few years. She switches places with Alison at some point and I don't really understand the whole thing but apparently that's who A is in the books. I didn't read them though so not all of this info is 100% accurate, I'm going by what my cousin told me.

@Swazzle - when I was looking for season spoilers I heard the same thing that you posted in 'secret text'.  Hmm - maybe while we're on 'break' from the show we should start a PLL reading club to go back and read the books )

Yeah - there's a lot of them, but if we just start with books 1-4 (I think those are the originals) and go from there (decide if we want to do all 16+ books; I say 16+ in case more come out).

I just checked on my library's digital catalog and all of them are available! 

I have to finish reading "Wild" (which I'm planning to do today) and then @hummingbird125 really wants me to read "We Need to Talk About Kevin" which I will likely read while I'm laying on the beach this weekend so I'm thinking I'll get started on the first book by Monday. I'm excited!

@Swazzle @GoldenPenguin @BreMR - so when do we start??  I've never done book club before - so I don't 100% know how they work beyond there's a book that we're supposed to read and wine involved.

I've never (successfully) done a book club either. 

Should we all just start whenever we can and then we can check in with each other throughout the week and see how far we've gotten and go from there?

Ah totally didn't mean to post and ditch! I would totally do a book club, I only read two of the books, but would read them all over again cause they're just as addicting as the show. 

I like @swazzle idea of just checking in each week to see where everyone is and go from there.

I just purchased book 1 on my kindle!! WOOP! 

This could get expensive, I should probably pay my $30 library fine so I can check them out from the library instead.

Unless that girl that was with Jenna at the eye doctor is her twin?! (Anyone remember how they were dressed exactly alike?) But that's dumb, what good is a twin plot line if they don't look alike

That's the only "twin" thing I can remember.  And I thought they were just dressing alike to mess with Spencer while she had the drops in her eyes.
