In Suite Reception - Mandalay Bay Media Suite!

Hi!

I'm getting married in Las Vegas on October 11th of this year. I booked the Media Suite at Mandalay Bay for an In Suite Reception. I'm just curious for feedback from any other knot users who have also had in suite receptions there. I've heard you're able to get "cocktail seating" options, other than the usual furniture that's in there, is this true?

I already have everything set as far as the small amount of decorations/food/alcohol we'll be needing! I'm thinking I'll have about 40-50 people in total.

40 to 50 in the media is going to be pretty tight since the floor plan is less than ideal for hosting a party due to the separate 'theater' room.  Seating is an issue in vista or media but vista is generally the better suite for that size of a gathering due to the layout. 

In either case, I'd recommend getting some chairs and perhaps high top tables from either Current Events or RSVP:  http://www.vegasgroom.com/35/

Well it's too late to book another room, and I really wanted the Media Suite for the special sound proofing available. I've read another review on a different site who said they also used the Media Suite and easily fit 60 people.

So Mandalay Bay doesn't offer cocktail seating? I don't want to have to pay for another company to come in and move all the furniture around.

You can probably get seating from Mandalay if you use their catering, but most people don't, and asking them for seating would give away the fact that you're hosting a party there, which is prohibited from using third party vendors, so it sets up a sticky situation.

Well a dear friend of ours is actually having Mandalay Bay cater up finger foods. Does that give me the ok to ask them for cocktail seating a few days prior to us getting there?

Kazzy who runs the littlevegaswedding.com site had her after party in the MB Media Suite. It's actually the first or second post on her blog and she has lots of pictures and feedback. I'd go view that if I were you.
As for the catering issue...I'd still be hesitant to bring MBs seating into it even ordering their finger food if you're not ordering bar through them....alcohol is where they really wanna get your money. But maybe if you hid the alcohol until after they brought up the food and seating you'd be okay.

Yes, maybe I will hide the alcohol until after everything is delivered. What would they do if they saw it? Sheesh....
