Wedding Party/Parent Gifts

What did everyone get for bridesmaids/groomsmen and parents' gifts? What was your budget?

Re: Wedding Party/Parent Gifts

  • I don't know if I really set a strict budget for myself...I've spent around $60 to $80 on each gift for my BMs ($100 for each of my sisters though because they are both MOH and I got them an extra present).

For our parents we probably spent around $100 total for both gifts but we made them ourselves out of raw materials. We made two cutting boards out of exotic wood (with the help of a friend's fancy woodworking tools) and are having a brief message laser engraved on the back of them. Once that's done I'm adding wrought iron handles and finishing the boards with a little cutting board oil.

For my BMs I got them each something different.

BFF 1 and 2, I ordered them different necklaces off of Etsy and am giving them each a giftcard to their favorite store plus a Starbucks gc and some chocolate.

FSIL 1 and 2 are each getting a cross necklace from James Avery, Starbucks gc, and some chocolate.

MOH 1 and 2. MOH 1 is getting a Pandora bracelet with a single charm, Starbucks gc, chocolate, and I also ordered a specia ceramicl tile off of Etsy with a sweet message about sisters and a photo of us.

MOH 2 is getting a pair of pearl earrings from Tory Burch, Starbucks gc, chooclate, and I ordered the same ceramic tile for her that my other sister is getting.

  • I spent the same on everything that you said. too funny. you got a little more creative than I did though. Each of my bridesmaids are VERY different so I got them each the "same thing" but different to match their style. I got each of them a COACH wristlet that matched their style, spent a little more on my MOH though. I also bought all of their wedding day jewelry but I guess that doesn't really count since it' technically benefiting me! Ha but I am sure that the will still appreciate it because I chose stuff that they can def wea again.
  • I got all parents engraved picture frames and a gag gift for my parents I found on etsy. its a wine glass and a beer glass and they both say "I $urvived my Daughter'$ Wedding". I thought they were really cute though.
  • I spent about $80 on my BM and MOH. I got my mom and FMIL each a necklace for around $50 each. Fiance says he's taking care of my dad and his dad.
I got BM a keychain with her name and bridesmaid (not technically something she'll probably care about, but I love it and had a pinterest/etsy moment and bought it), a horseshoe coat rack, and a bottle of wine. I'll probably get her some chocolate as well.
MOH I got the same keychain as BM, but it says matron of honor on it. A little zipper pouch made out of a woven wrap (babywearing stuff...she'd never buy it herself but thinks they're awesome), and a bottle of wine. She'll get chocolate too. Because we all love us some tasty chocolate.
  • I spent around $80 per bridesmaid and paid for half of their dresses. Both of our parents will be presented with a nice gift certificate for a vacation the night of our rehearsal dinner. If it wasn't for all their help and support, we wouldn't being having such a beautiful wedding :)
  • I bought similar gifts for mother and FMIL. They are decorative metal trays made by a local company which is a very popular vendor in my area for gifts, especially for engraved gifts. Both trays have a certain floral pattern embossed on them, and I engraved a message on the back for both. I spent about $75 for each tray with the engraving fee. I got my SIL a gift for planning/throwing my shower/bachelorette -it's a $50 gift card to a very pricey seafood restaurant...she's a major foodie, she will love it.
  • I spent about $40 each and did personalized gifts for everyone, so no 2 people are getting the same thing.  I think it's more important to get them something they would actually like than to get them something that matches.

  • I think I'm going to get my MOH a Disney Dooney and Bourke purse and I'm going to get one of the other girls that helped me out quite a bit a Vera Bradley Cosmetic bag.

FI has no idea what to get BM.

I do not believe we are getting our parents gifts.  They are not helping us with our wedding and my parents are probably not going to attend.

  • I'm getting the men and one BM a large bottle of craft beer from the nano brewery by me with a custom beer glass.

The 2 other girls I'm making mini scentsy spa baskets.
  • I am really struggling with gifts for both sets of parents.  I want to get something memorable and special but I kinda hate the engraved picture frames, hankies, jewelry, etc (no offense to anyone that has purchased those things).  It's not really my style or my parent's style.  My FI's parent's might appreciate something to that effect.  I definitely want to give them pictures or photo albums after the wedding, but I'm looking for something special and unique on "the day" to say thank you for all they have done for us.  Keep the ideas coming, ladies! :)

As far as my 2 bridesmaids, we are having a destination wedding in Maui, so at my shower I gave them a beach tote (different styles for each), earrings that they may choose to wear (or not wear) for the wedding, Reef flip flops, chocolate covered macadamia nuts and a Stella and Dot travel jewelry case. I probably spent about $100 each.  I got my sister (MOH) the same, except I bought her a silver shell necklace that she's been eyeing from a Hawaiian designer.

  • @itmestacey123 Do you have any local resorts or wineries or breweries? Could you get your parents a gift certificate for some sort of spa or restaurant experience? Or make a "certificate" for you and your FI to take them for an evening out somewhere?  Or is there something you can gift to them that they can enjoy in Maui after the wedding but before they go home? Like a snorkling trip or something?

For your FILS - my sister gave our parents and her ILs an engraved silver tray. It actually came out really beautiful! She and her H composed a letter and it was engraved into the flat part of the tray along with their names and wedding date. My mom keeps hers displayed in their china cabinet.

  • We are going to give our parents oak trees! :) Because the wedding isn't in ideal planting time, we will just give them a card on the wedding day, the oak trees will be delivered and planted in the spring. It will be a really nice gift to watch grow over the years! (and take future family pictures under!)

For bridesmaids - besides the jewelry for wedding day, I purchased different Scentsy warmers and scents for everyone. The warmers match their individual style, house decorations, etc. I will probably add a bottle of wine in there as well.

Groomsmen are getting coolers, pint glass, and a homemade bottle opener.

Still working on toys for FG and RB gifts!
  • @liepo005 I LOVE the oak tree idea!

  • My bridesmaids I bought there day of jewelr (which can be worn for other occasions as well). But I am also going to get them all giftcards to places that fit their personalities/interests.

For parents though I was planning on getting them photobooks my photographer offers. But not sure on how to do it since it would be after the wedding. They're quite pricey too... $400 a book. Ours comes free with our package so. Not sure if we should give them something the day of the wedding.

  • @itsmestacey123 - My brother and SIL gave both sets of parents gift certificates to the B&B that they stayed in when my brother proposed.
  • My MOH is having gastric sleeve done a few months after the wedding, so she got an IOU for a whole new outfit of her choosing when she's ready to start buying new clothes.  No clue what to get my parents, or what he's planning to do for gifts for his groomsmen and mom.
  • Great ideas everyone!  We found this really cute "Thank You" plate for my future in-laws on Etsy

As far as my parents, they just moved to Maui so I'm thinking something Maui related will be nice for them...

  • I started my BM's Pandora bracelets and for our parents we will be doing shutterfly photo books after the wedding. We will just do cards at the RD.

  • I got my bridesmaids all different coach wristlets, suited to their individual styles. My budget was $500 and so far, I am well under, but I haven't found anything for my Man of Honor yet.

FI has no idea what he is getting for GMs and we haven't thought about parents gifts yet either.
  • We're not having a wedding party. I plan on buying each of the mom's something from Kate Spade's idiom line, I'm unsure if I will get them a necklace or earrings or bracelet though. I'm also going to get something for myself so that we all "match". It's kind of my way of making us all feel like family. :)
