When to sent separate invites to children

A big portion of my family has college age children, and I'm wondering when I should send their children a separate invitation, and when I should send one just to the parents, with the children's names on it.

Most of the kids do not have stable addresses because its college, and for some I don't know if they're still coming home for summers, or moved out full time.  Is it ok to just send an invite to the parents, as if they still live at home?

I also have an uncle who lives with my grandparents - does he get a separate invitation even though they're in the same household?  Seems odd to me to include him on my grandparents invite, considering he's 40 and their other 5 children are all out of the home.

Thanks for the help

Re: When to sent separate invites to children

  • I have a college-aged cousin, so I just emailed and asked her if she'd like a plus one (since she's single) and her own invite.

She said she'd be fine with being included on the invite with her parents and siblings, but she did request her own STD.

Best bet is to get in touch with the kids directly and ask what they want. As far as the uncle, I'd send him his own, or you could ask him and your grandparents what they'd prefer.

Mail it there.

You'll just be mailing two invites to the same house. This is the the same thing you'd do if the college age kid asks you to mail his invite to his mom's house.

  • Anyone over the age of 18 receives their own invitations.  Its ok to mail multiple invites to one place.

  • If they're over 18, they're not "children" anymore.
