Airbrushed Makeup

Has anyone had this done?  How did it turn out?  Did it look fake or can they do it natural looking?
Cheers

Re: Airbrushed Makeup

  • Yes, if the artist is good it looks incredible and can save your photographer a lot of time in retouching. Event makeup will always look a little heavy handed in person - necessary to make it show up nicely in photographs. But with airbrushing your skin should just look flawless and smooth.

  • I had airbrush makeup done for my wedding and I loved it.  It did not look heavy nor did it feel heavy on my face.  It also lasted all day and night and even looked pretty decent in the morning when I woke up.

But you have to make sure that the professional you are using knows how to appropriately apply the makeup.  So you should definitely do a trial run to see if you like what they do.

  • Ditto PPs.  I very rarely wear makeup and the airbrushed stuff felt like I wasn't wearing anything at all.  I looked flawless all night - the only thing I had to touch up was my lipstick.
  • Like Lolo said above, any event makeup is going to look heavy in person and up close because it's done so that it looks flawless in photos.

Airbrush make up will especially look heavy on you if you are a person who wears little to no makeup regularly.

I used it when I had my makeup trial and then had my E-photos taken, but by the end of the E-photo session the foundation was wonky- it was like separating.  I'm not sure if the airbrush foundation brand had a bad reaction to the Olay moisturizer I use or my rosacea medication, but I won't be using it on my wedding day.

Properly primed, applied, and set traditional foundation will look as good and last as long as airbrush foundation.

  • I had airbrush and loved it.  Usually you can tell when you have makeup on, but with me, I didn't really feel the airbrush.  But I agree with PP, you need to do a trial with your potential artist.

  • Thanks.  Unfortunately I won't be able to do a trial run because we are having a DW.  But this person was highly recommended by the coordinator we are working with.
  • Are there reviews on the person you would be using?  I would personally read those before taking a chance.  And I'm the type where I always look for the bad reviews because all positives gives me the feeling that its too good to be true.

  • I did have a look at reviews.  The majority were great.  There were a couple that were fair, but it had nothing to do with quality of work.
  • I had airbrushed makeup done for my wedding a month ago.  I don't normally wear makeup, so I don't have much to compare it to.  My main advice, especially if you cannot do a trial, is make sure to speak up when they are all done if you want them to tweak anything.  I wish I had told the lady the blush was a bit too much for me (I get that it has to be bolder for pictures, and I'm all for that with eyes and lips, but I am just NOT a blush person...).  With regular makeup, I could have just rubbed some of it off later, but that airbrushed stuff does NOT rub off, lemme tell ya!  ...cuz I tried lol...

That's so good to know. Thanks!

Just out of curiosity, how do you get it off?  Does it wash off?  :-)
  • @kimberly0315 - the airbrush makeup will come off easily when using makeup remover wipes or a nice face wash, but it does not easily come off if you are just wiping at it with a kleenex or, if you are like me, touch your face a lot.

  • I had airbrush make-up done for my engagement party and I was worried about it being heavy and looking caked on... It's was the complete opposite! It was super light and looked great.... It stayed on all day/night but still came off easy (I used my regular make up wipes to remove). I also usually have watery eyes at the corners and it didn't smudge at all with the airbrush. I will definitely be using this for my wedding and would recommend it! Just make sure the reviews are good of the make up artist you are using and you like the photos of make up she's done.
