Wedding Woes

Thursday, baby

Son had his first game with the new older league last night.  He hit a home run and was the closing pitcher.  I do love watching him play.  I don't love that the weekday games this fall start at 7pm.

WTF is younique and why was I added to TWO fb groups yesterday of people selling it?  Ugh.  I was added to a younique thing months ago by my sister's friend and I had to leave it because my news feed was clogged with it.

It's storming here this morning and it's going to be hotter than balls.  Several schools in the area without a/c are dismissing early.  Our schools have a/c so we aren't affected, but this is the second time this school year already that they have dismissed early due to heat.

  • M2 has preschool orientation today.  I'm so excited for her.

Younique is the spider mascara MLM.  Speaking of which, I drank the Norwex water.  I got my order last night and immediately started cleaning shit- windows, frig, microwave, bathrooms.  I might actually consider a party.

  • Today and tomorrow is supposed to be hot, hot, hot.  Then the weather breaks and we'll be in the 60's and 70's.  While I'm excited for the weather to cool off, I'm hoping it doesn't take a dive.  All of our cold weather stuff is packed and a lot of it is in storage.  I have some pants and sweatshirts for DefConn, but not enough for days on end.  I may have to go shopping.

We have nothing planned this weekend or next.  DH and I are going to do some more packing and organizing this weekend.

My mom is conferencing with our buyers loan company this morning over our delayed closing since it was their originators fault that the loan didn't make it to underwriting and therefore we were delayed (and we are now on the hook for taxes and carrying costs since our seller is being difficult).  It's with the originator and a VP of the company.  We're hoping they'll pony up at least some, if not all, of the additional costs we're incurring. I'm also hoping the originator gets his ass handed to him for sucking at his job.
  • Younique is the new Krystyn

  • Younique is the new Jamberry...only for eyelids.

  • I'm happy that I don't know what any of this crap is. (Younique, Jamberry, etc.)

I also immediately block anyone who invites me to an online "party" selling _[insert latest overpriced fad brand here]___.
  • I have as of yet escaped younique so I googled...,
really, who wants to buy a lip-product when THIS is the website's stock pictureimage

Maybe it's just me, but the mouth seems all sorts of off.

I'm interested to hear from people how norwex is better/ different than my dollar store microfiber dustcloths.

Friday we're having Buffy's birthday party (small.  family only)--she voted for tacos, so we are doing a DIY taco bar.  I need to finish sewing the superhero skirt I"m making her tonight. (just need to hem and add bias tape) so she'll have it.

And I need a long nap to recharge and recover from the previous weekend.  I vote sleeping in a lot from tomorrow on.

  • Taco bars are the best.  I love doing the taco bar for Son's parties.
  • My sisters both LOOOOVVVVEEE Jamberry.  I've never tried it and now that it's become all the rage on my mom board, I'm less than interested.

I've never heard of Younique or Norwex and that's OK.   I'm on team Barbie with that stuff...I just ignore or block.
  • I don't know about the dollar store ones, but the norwex microfiber are usually smaller and have silver embedded in them.
  • For a second I thought taco bar=mexican brownie?  *face palm*

I'm busy at work, but obviously not THAT busy that I can't listen to Spotify or WW.  Duh.

Younique seems gimmicky to me---I can't handle it.  Especially since I'm a cosmetic snob.
  • @tawillers yay for home run!
  • I know some named Younique.

    That is all.........

  • My sister got engaged! She is in Greece with her boyfriend and he proposed. It's sort of funny because she mentioned to my mom that she thought he wasn't serious and now this. I guess about a month ago he talked to my dad and gave him the head's up. I'm curious to know the details- all we know is that he proposed and she said yes.

Other than that, not much else. DD is teething and is up like 4 times a night. I'm tired. DH is applying for a promotion (job in a new department) so he has been working a ton trying to prepare for his interviews.

My morning was taking this face to preschool orientation.

  • I love her smile/grimace, 6.
  • @6fsn - didn't you let your DD pick her own outfit for school? :-(
  • She sort of did. She already wore her favorite leopard skirt and "awesome dress" earlier this week. The "super awesome" shirt that says I love Math was also dirty. Those are her top 3 things to wear. She does love this shirt, but usually pairs it with a pink stripe skirt. I hid that skirt today. There are monster socks under her pink shoes. Tuesday is the legit first day. I'll let her be for the rest of the year (minus picture day).
  • at least they're not required to wear uniforms.

I'm hoping the stuff i ordered takes a while to come in. I couldn't find any shorts, refused to buy the overpriced ones from the uniform company, and it's too damn hot to wear the khaki pants that i found at Walmart. She might be wearing non-regulation shorts on occasion until it cools down in December.
  • Target, Old Navy and Sears carry uniform stuff too.  If it's from Kohls you should be safe until Dec.

taw - the typical uniform sizes at Target and Walmart are children's sizes - they don't carry anything in the 3T that will maybe fit or the 4T with the option to cinch the waist. I was able to find three 4T pairs of khakis at Walmart, and a pair of navy blue cargo pants in a 3/4T (I forget which) from the boy's section. Target had nothing - I went there first.

I will check out Old Navy/Kohl's selections, if I have time. At this point, it's an extra trip for me, and I have enough shit to do. It's also increasingly difficult to find shorts - everybody already has "winter" stuff out, despite the fact that it will be 80+ well into November.

I still annoyed that there was basically no notification of the uniform policy until the week before school started (and for us, 3 days in since we were on vacation the week before, and they only communicated by mass text message, which we didn't know existed).

ETA: I started my boycott of Sears/K-mart 8 years ago, after I worked a very short stint as a store manager for their company. I won't even go into the stores, let alone spend money there - they were asses when I left.
  • Barbie my oldest GD had to wear uniforms at her old school and she is tiny.  I found her stuff at Children's Place, they have online and in store.
  • Barbie - I  saw some uniform clothes in Toddler sizes at Marshall's/T J Maxx.
  • A lot of our parents go to Old Navy.

  • Thanks for the ON link - unfortunately the skorts aren't available at the local store, or in the right size online (They would be allowable, based on colors.)

I also checked the Children's Place website, and they don't have T sizes in the uniform offerings. A Girls' size 4 would be falling off of her. That was the same problem I had with Target - they had uniform stuff, but not in Toddler sizes.

I could check Marshalls/TJ Maxx, If i'm up for the extra trip - Google says there's a Marshalls on my commute, but the nearest T J Maxx is 15 minutes away.

Thanks for the info. She'll be going to the school through Kindergarten, next year, so I will at least have some advance notice and can grab something if I see it. I managed to get a few pairs of pants at Walmart, that will hopefully last through the "winter." (December - March) - I really just need a couple of pairs of shorts (or skirts, or skorts) to supplement what she owns.

  • you might try some of the online consignment places, I know I saw some on thredup.

I hate that everything has to be taken in at the waist.

I just started buying DS his first pairs of long pants since about last February/March, and had forgotten all about those adjustable waist thingies they have on toddler pants.  I totally want those on my pants.
  • I have borrowed the 'dapper snapper' type things I made for my child.

    It's kinda embarassing :-P

@tawillers - not at $27/ea. that's insane! I thought the $15 shorts from the uniform company were too much (especially after I saw them - very cheaply made)
