Unity Ceremony for a family???

So my fiance and I have a daughter together and she will almost be 2 when we have our wedding.  We were talking about having a unity ceremony..but we are not sure what to do.  We are having a garden wedding, so the a unity candle would not work and would be a little dangerous for our little one...any one have any other UNIQUE ideas???

WHat about doing a sand ceremony? My fiance has a daughter and I have 3 children- together we're "uniting" our family together that evening. It's an amazing moment that brings everyone together!

A candle surrounded by lots of adults is dangerous now?  Oy.

I also recommend a sand ceremony.

I saw on some wedding show (there are too many to keep straight!) where a  family had a large fishbowl with just water, and then three smaller ones with individual goldfish. When the time came for the unity ceremony they all poured in their fish at the same time making their individual fish into a family of fish. I thought it was a very nice way to make it apealing and intresting to their child. Although, you would have to be prepared for the fish to eventually die. And, as a side note: I have had fantail goldfish live for more than three years in my classroom. They are also much prettier than your run of the mill feeder goldfish.

We have a sticky about this on the Second Wedding board.   I'm not fond of the vows for children or parents.  Really, the ceremony is about the legal, adult couple.  Although the children are part of the family, they are not part of the wedding.  I have seen, though, a quick blessing of the family at a reception, which was lovely, and very appropriate.

We are planting a tree. Our parents will each add soil and we are watering the potted tree, which will later be planted at our home. You may be able to modify something like this for your family. It seems like it would fit with your garden theme.

We have three children (3, 8, & 10). We were going to do a "Family Unity Sand Ceremony" or a "Family Prayer Circle" because we wanted our children involved in the ceremony. 

We decided not to do either (we are doing the sand ceremony alone) and instead our two older children have written short letters (they are 4 or 5 sentences long) that they are going to read during the ceremony. They are very cute and I was so happy when I read what they had to say about how much they loved us, etc. 

I know you said your child is only 2, but just wanted to share, as we have a similar situation...
