We had port-a-potties.  They had a/c, running water and normal flushable toilets.  The only difference was they sat on a trailer.

Yeah, I actually had zero problems with this. They were very nice- on a trailer, regular flushing toilets, sinks with running water, lights, etc. I was not remotely offended.

All this being said OP.... if you go and they have the more, ah, traditional porta-potties, you must report back.  Festivals and races are gross enough in shorts and I sure wouldn't want to hike up a cocktail dress to squat over a pit.

I guess I'm a bitch, but there's no fucking way I'd be going out and buying another pair of shoes for this.  I'd wear whatever you have regardless of whether it looks fantastic, because it's not worth spending even more to make up for the poor planning of rude people.

Obviously she can wear whatever shoes she wants to.  However, when I responded I didn't realize that  she had already bought those sandals (reading comp). . . I thought she was thinking about buying them, and in my opinion those sandals do not go with her outfit at all.

So I was giving her suggestions on styles that would suit her dress better in case she already owned a similar pair to what I was suggesting, or she wanted to buy a different pair of shoes.

UPDATE/RECAP:

Thanks again for everyone's advice. So I jumped the gun on my snarkyness and it was all a lot nicer then expected. Here are some highlights (and low lights)

-My sister wasn't invited with her BF and then he was B listed 2 weeks before the wedding so that was still rude.

-The "porta potties" were those nice trailer ones with 3 stalls and a sink. Felt almost like a real (small) bathroom). Although it was tilted a little (as was everything since the lawn was slanted toward the water). But wayyyyyyy nicer had a thought. Still glad I wore a short dress though.

-The whole Black Tie Welcome was graciously accepted as 75% of the (male) guests had tuxes on and 50% of the (female) guests wore long gowns.

-food was great as was the booze

-I wore my heals most of the night and was better at walking on my toes then I thought. I actually only took off the heals and put on the flats because as I mentioned previously the yard was slanted as was the dance floor and I stumbled a few times dancing because of that.

-BAND WAS AWESOME. Best wedding band I have ever experienced! Dance floor was packed the whole night!

-It rained but not until the reception started and we were already in the tent. But the ceremony did start 45min late so that was annoying!

-The had baskets full of black pashminas and sandals for us to wear which was nice and a few hours in had an "80's power hour" with florescent sunglasses and head/sweatbands.

All in all it was beautiful and fun! Spent 5 days in Maine with all my family and was brought to tears when I left as I was so sad. We are lucky if we all see each other once a year as we all live so far apart and who knows if we'll get to meet in Maine again which is a very special place to this family!

Great photos!  Glad it was the trailer and everything else worked out.

Wish I thought of an 80's power hour. That sounds awesome. (We love 80's music and had a good mix of it at ours.)

Your dress is very cute, and I think the sandals would have been fine. I wear sandals all the time with fancy dresses because I can't wear heels for very long due to my bad knees.
