Do you cry at weddings?

No matter who it is, I will always cry when the groom lights up when he first sees the bride

Re: Do you cry at weddings?

  • I cry about pretty much everything lately, so yeah, I cry at weddings. I'm going to the wedding of two of FI's friends I don't really know today so we'll see if I cry this time.

  • Only if I'm close to the couple.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Usually not. I think I would if it were a really close friend and I knew how much they loved each other first hand. But most of the weddings I've been to, I was the date so I didn't really know them, or it was a coworker of mine, not like a best friend.

I've been to two where I knew there was cheating during the engagement....I definitely sat there rolling my eyes (not being judgmental but I knew they'd divorce and they both did).

  • Yes. I'm sure I'll tear up at my cousin's wedding today.
  • Nope. I'm stone cold.  Not a crier unless it's something stupid.

Nope. The bride (in each case) was my friend from high school and they were the ones cheating. So obviously I felt terrible for the men but couldn't be the one to say anything. These were really good men, not like dicks who deserved it or anything. I felt so bad knowing.

  • Yep.  Every time.  Even if it's people I don't really know.  I mean I sometimes cry at weddings on TV.

Never been in a situation where I knew there was a problem in the relationship.  In that case I might cry for other reasons!

  • Yeah, I never went to a wedding where I thought it wouldn't last.

Wait, maybe that one with the two 18 year olds.

  • Nah. I've never been to a wedding of people I'm really close to though. I've always been closer to one side of the relationship and don't know the other well enough to "know" their love.
Other people crying makes me cry though so I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.
  • I've only been to one wedding where I didn't start crying like a fat kid who dropped their ice cream.

He was an ex, and the whole thing was just too surreal for me to get emotionally invested in.

  • Nope.  I'm too much like a guy.  I only cry in public if I've broken something and can't do sports anymore, and then it's out of frustration

  • Yes, and I'm a horrible crier too. It's so embarrassing :(

  • I was surprised I didn't cry at my sister's wedding, but I did come close.  I think I did a little bit at the wedding before that, which was my cousin's.

  • Yes, but I cry at everything. I work at a university, and commencement (graduation) makes me tear up every year.
  • No, I have a black heart. I only cry when I'm irrationally angry.

  • I don't usually full on cry, but I will start to tear up.  Even when I'm watching weddings on TV, and especially when the bride or groom starts to cry.

  • I tear up, but it's not like sobbing.

The only wedding I cry at from movies/TV is The Muppets take Manhattan.
  • Oh my god, yes. Every wedding. Always. I'm a sobber.

  • Yuppers, but usually when I'm close to the couple or something super touching is said.
    Happiness is an inside job
  • Yeah, but I'm an emotional mess who cries at Hallmark commercials. I cried at the PPD we went to and I had met the groom 20 minutes before the ceremony and didn't meet the bride til after. I cry at tv weddings, hell I have even cried watching Bridezillas.

  • I'm an ice queen. But I have  feeling I might cry at my own wedding. I bought waterproof mascara, so hopefully that will work!

  • Nope.  Didn't even cry at my own.  I've been to six or seven?

I was a BM at my little sister's wedding, so I was standing up front. One of the guests (who I knew fairly well) later said I looked like I was getting all emotional up there.

    I was like, "really?  I wasn't."
  • I've never cried at a wedding but I've never been to a wedding of a very close friend.

  • I've only been to one wedding and It was my cousins. It happened a few years ago and I think I might have gotten teary eyed. But no flat out crying.

  • The first few weddings I attended, yes.  My father died young, and watching Dad escorting the bride bothered me.  After playing the organ at 100+ church weddings, I became used to it, though.
When DH escorted my daughter, my sister bawled like a baby.

    Hi, life twin. Samesies.
I admittedly did get teary-eyed at my wedding. When I realized that yep, I paid so much money and was never, ever going to get it back. Don't get me wrong, it was a lovely day and I'm happy I married DH - many people (even now 2 months later) tell us it was the best wedding they'd ever been to. But it really hit me that it was too late to back out!

  • Nope, not even at my own wedding. I never cry when I'm happy. I only cry when I'm sad.
