Looking for ring expertise

Can a ring become bigger when it gets re-rhodiumed? I had it done to my ring last week. I picked it up on Thursday, and the ring spins on my finger now. It used to fit perfectly. Does anyone with ring expertise know whether this could change the size of a ring?

I've been dieting, but it was only out of my possession for 2 days so I don't think the dieting would have caused it.

I don't have any ring expertise, but I know my ring starts spinning if my fingers get cold. If they are hot it can get pretty tight. If I drink lots of water and have no excess salt, my ring spins. If I eat a bag of chips and have a beer, it gets tight.

This can all happen within a day. If you didn't diet before when you had your ring on, you could be noticing a difference by eating healthy food (which usually contain lots of water and less salt) and it could happen in two days.

I will not apologize for my hot mess of a  sentence structure.

  • Ha, your sentence made sense to me. I've basically been dieting since I got engaged... I've lost 15 pounds and now just want to stay where I'm at. It is getting a little cooler out with it turning into fall, though, so maybe that's it. It's annoying that it didn't used to spin and now it does. Ugh.

  • Two days go here it felt like 97, today it's 65.  My ring is much more comfortable!

This is why when I got my ring in June, I didn't have it resized larger!

  • My ring spins on me every once in a while. One day, it fits great. The next day, it's loose. Usually the tight days are when I've eaten a lot of Cheetos...

  • If anything, dipping it should make it smaller, not bigger.

  • Between the weight loss and the fact that it is getting a bit cooler where you are could be the reason it is spinning.  Also if you are or aren't bloated or if you are working a lot with your hands which can cause them to swell, slept on your hand wrong, etc, etc, etc can all be reasons.  It is similar to how one day your pants can fit amazing but a few days later they feel tight.

  • I had the same problem! I'm a hot yoga instructor which causes my fingers to swell up. Originally I got it sized so that I would be able to get it back on after a class but during the rest of the day it would just spin on my finger.  My jeweler recommended putting a Superfit on the ring, which is a hinge that opens and closes.  I was amazed about how it blended in with the ring and didnt change the look at all. Its a perfect fit and my ring never spins :)
