Send off?

So, at a "traditional" wedding, the newlyweds usually have some kind of send off at the end of the reception. At my brother's wedding, the guests lit sparklers as he and my sister in law got in the car and took off. I know there are a bunch of different things you can do when it's not a destination wedding but what do you do when the wedding is in Vegas? Our reception is at Maggiano's, which is right across the street from our hotel. We plan on walking back over for an after-party and a bunch of of our guests will be coming with us. So it's not like we'll be getting into a limo or driving away. I thought sparklers would be cool and make for some awesome pictures but it also made me laugh to think of everyone twirling their sparklers around and then we're like, "OK. Thanks! Bye!" and then just walk past them onto the Strip. LOL!!! Are any of you doing anything "send-offish" at the end of your reception? And if so, what?

I'm not for the exact reason you mentioned. I think it'd be weird to have a fake "sendoff" for the sake of having one. This is especially true for us since we are going to a club after the reception.

Can you incorporate the sparklers just because you want to? It sounds fun and, as you mentioned, it's a great photo op.

Maybe at the end of the ceremony or on the way in to your reception or even at the end of the reception but without implying that it's a send off.

I recently saw a picture of a Vegas hotel terrace ceremony with the guests throwing confetti at the end. It was an adorable pic. I think this was the same idea. The group spent the rest of the night together but they still had a fun celebration the way many do during their send offs at traditional weddings. I could totally see the same thing with sparklers.

I don't know the details of your day or timeline but I say go for it.

We're getting married at The Venetian at 4pm and then doing a Strip photo tour while guests start cocktail hour over at Maggiano's.  Reception will wrap up around 10 and then we're heading to The Bourbon Room back over at Venetian for the after party.  There are some steps outside Maggiano's (it's actually on the second floor of the mall, there) and I thought it might be cool if everyone lined up and lit the sparklers.  Hell, I even entertained the idea of everyone bringing one with them and twirling around as we walk back across the street.  It's really only about a 5-10 minute walk and it might be kind of cool to have us all decked out in our wedding attire with 50 people sparkling it up behind us as we walk.  Wedding Pied Pipers.  HAHA!!!

We didn't do any kind of send off.  Walked out to our music, went to take pics, the venue announced cocktail hour occurring in the other side of the place and everyone head that way and that was that.

Oh, this would be after the reception, at the end of the night (for most of the guests).  It would be the last time we'd see a lot of them as many are leaving town early the next morning.  I would kind of like a way to "officially" mark the end of the reception and say goodbye to those I won't see at the afterparty instead of just having the DJ stop playing, the lights come up and then everyone kind of blindly milling around.  I guess we could do a modified "reverse receiving line" where after the last dance, we can just hug and say farewells to whomever is left standing.

Oh lol, we didn't do anything formal, our reception ended at midnight, half the guests were gone, most of the ones that remained were drunk, we had the DJ announce that most guests were going next door to the night club or to the craps table and thanks for coming.

I don't think we are really going to have an "end of the night." After dinner we plan on spending the rest of the evening hanging out with our guests at various casinos.

Wow! Thanks for bringing this up I didn't even think about it. I am going to be having my cake and champagne in my suite about an hour after our reception dinner (as we aren't having a traditional reception). I guess that will be a good time to have like a final farewell toast before guests start either heading to bed or heading out for the evening. Any ideas on something else cute to add in?
