My Venue Closed!

OMG.  I am in a complete panic.  I am one month away from my wedding and the event venue (including the caterer) closed it's doors!  I don't know what to do.  I have 3 kids in college and I have to move at the end of this week.  In other words, most of my money is gone and the amount that I had budgeted for the last venue probably wont even cover the deposit at a new place.  So now I  have one month to find...  a place to eat, food to eat, entertainment, new tabletops, and find a place that will allow alcohol (all this in a one horse, dry, town).  I am so set back that I don't even know where to begin.  There are only 30 people so the big venues are just too much.

ANY HELP WILL BE VASTLY APPRECIATED!!!  Any/All ideas please!

Re: My Venue Closed!

  • What does your contract say? Are they going to refund your deposit?
  • I would look into restaurants with private rooms.
  • Wow, that sucks.

You can probably host 30 people at a restaurant with minimum fuss.  Find a place that has a private room.

I echo PPs, look into restaurants with private rooms.
And make sure you go through your contract, possibly check with a lawyer and see what your options are should the venue be less than forthcoming with your refund.
  • Another vote for looking into restaurants with private rooms.  Also, read your contract and see what it says about what would happen if the event space closed.

  • If you are 30 days out I would think venues that are available might be willing to cut you a deal.

Ask for last minute pricing or at least off season pricing. Perhaps they can give your their weekday pricing. Otherwise that won't earn any money that weekend.

    GL! :)

  • Try posting this on your local board too. Hopefully the girls there will have some ideas of actual venues you can try calling. Good luck!
