Found it really helpful to read reviews and see photos of different venues before our wedding so thought I ought to do my part now
Hair and Makeup- Perfect Hair and Beauty- A
We ordered hair and airbrush makeup for myself (the bride) and my maid of honour, the rest of my bridesmaids wanted to do their own as is a little pricey $150. The ladies were friendly and professional and even though when I first saw my hair I was a little alarmed as it seemed BIG to me, like a beauty queen, she assured me it would settle and she was right it did, it looked great in the ceremony photos.
Ceremony- The Grove- C- The only reason this venue isn't getting an E is beautiful the grounds are pretty and the provided photographer and officiant we friendly and good at their jobs. The management of coordination however of this business is a joke. Around 3 months before the wedding we get a call asking if we could bring our wedding forward by 3 hours because they wanted to squeeze in a wedding with reception in the evening, for doing this they said they would comp us the ceremony part of the package (because naturally theyd theyd be making way more with the other couple's day). I was fine with doing this but this is when our wedding became just an inconvenience to the planners it seems. Firstly they screwed up our billing then on the day of the wedding I get a call saying do you want the flowers in or out of the gazebo, I had to remind them that I wasn't getting married in the gazebo but rather the orchard even though in countless emails I had discusses the orchard and on the confirmation call the week before had reminded them it was the orchard wedding, lucky I picked up the phone or I could have gotten there and found I was walking down the wrong aisle. We ordered a 24 passenger bus through The Grove which I used to get all my friends and family from the UK to get to the ceremony (along with my photographer), unfortunately the wedding coordinator didn't bother to check this bus had arrived before rushing me down the aisle, so my friends and family I hadn't seen in months missed half my ceremony (which to be fair is only about 10 minutes long) and I had no idea they weren't there until I got to the end of the aisle, there was clearly no communication between the limo, bus and coordinator because my limo dropped me off at the front entrance and my groom saw all the bridesmaids before the ceremony, we then got rushed back into the limo and sent back round behind the trash cans... glamorous. When I confronted Donna about hurrying me down the aisle before the bus had turned up she got patronizing and defensive and actually said "how was I supposed to know the bus hadn't arrived?" well maybe the fact that no bus had turned up to venue and half the seats were empty was a nice clue. My father in law had a word with her after cos she really upset me how defensive she was and apparently her response was "well they got a massive discount for their wedding" oh ok that's a great reason to ruin someones wedding isn't it, because it was cheap. When my husband and I went off to take solo photos I had to pretend to smile when really I was very upset that my own mum had missed the wedding. During these photos Donna the awful coordinator comes out tapping her watch and yelling that all the bus people need to get back on the bus or they'll get charged overtime, I couldn't believe it!! she makes them miss the wedding and then threatens them!. We complained after and got our bus money back but it really wasn't the point
id have paid anything to have my people be there as I walked down the aisle.
Catering- Masterpiece Catering- A+++
Ok back to a positive note
this is a fantastic company. We had 50 guests but ordered for 75 because we figured we have some big eaters in our party but we had so much left over!!. We ordered the Tri tip, mushroom chicken, vegan enchiladas, roast potatos, roast veg and salad (im vegan but everything I got to eat was incredible!), everyone raved about the food, even the fussiest eaters. Not only was the food good but the company were fantastic to work with, made everything so easy and the delivery guys were so lovely and friendly. Don't have a bad word to say about any part of this company.
Reception- Mandalay Bay Vista Suite- B
When we first walked in I was like oops this seems smaller than I thought it would be but there was no issue once everyone was in. We had 50 guests, used the dining table for food, side table for cake and deserts and had a self serve bar. We lightly decorated with a vintage theme and the great thing about the vista suite is it has a very neutral look so I think would suit any theme. We had no trouble getting our catered food and shop bought alcohol in, the bellhops have seen it all I guess and even joked theyd be joining our party. We did however have security visit twice (starting at 8pm!!) we weren't playing loud music, it was just general people noise but I could tell they were visiting us out of obligation and didn't really have any intention of shutting us down, not sure who makes a noise complaint at 8pm... only complaints I have really were little things, like at the beginning of our reception we had to have an engineer come up and fix the AC because it wasn't working and the music player was messing up all night. Also there wasn't a bottle opener in the bar which surprised me! we went out and bought one. I loved the intimate feel of the in suite reception and loved the fact I could choose everything in it like food, drink, decoration, also not matter what you do in the room its always gona be cheaper than a sit down meal.
I haven't quite figured out how to post photos on here but I will do.
