Groomsmen gifts?

Any good gift suggestions for our groomsmen? Our youngest is 16, while our oldest is 27, so we're trying to keep flasks and alcohol gifts out of it. I'm really having a hard time getting creative, as the bridesmaids gifts seemed so easy!

Re: Groomsmen gifts?

  • Just think about what these guys' interests are or what they enjoy as hobbies.

    Examples:
-If the 16 year old as a school he's dead set on going to in a couple years, get him a shirt, jersey, etc. from that university.
-If the 27 is a grilling master, some cool new gadget and grilling sauces.

If you think on their interests, it's easier. Throw those interests out here and we can offer more specific suggestions.

  • Shop for them individually, as you would for a birthday or a holiday.  Anything for your wedding (tie, cufflinks, shoes they must wear) isn't part of the gift; the gift should reflect the recipient or your relationship with that person.  For example, if your Best Man is a big golfer, you could get some of his preferred golf balls and a gift card to his pro shop.  If another groomsman is a great cook, you could get him some high quality spices and oils with a cookbook or a quality cutting board.

Keep the amounts you spend on each person about the same to keep things equitable, but the gifts don't need to be the same.

They do not need the same gift.  I mean how many things do 16 and 27 year-olds really have in common?  Ditto pp who said shop for each man individually as if you were shopping for their birthday or a Christmas present.

  • I have the same problem, his son who is 11 and our oldest GM who is 38. We are getting moustache glasses with a can of pop and a mini bottle of whisky, the 11 year old will get root beer. We are also including fun socks, the tie they must wear, and the timex weekender watch. It is great and casual and they can change the wrist band themselves after the wedding to make it suit them better. Hope that helps cuz we had a heck of a time with it also!

Are you dictating which watch will be worn by the GM? As in, they all have to wear matching watches, which you've picked? Please tell me I am misunderstanding this.

  • Take this off your plate and give this task to your FI.  Then, have him shop for them individually as another poster said.  My husband did this and they actually liked and used their gifts, not set them in a box in the attic.
  • Groomsmen in matching watches? Ugh. Why?
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • They have video games in common but your FI should do this unless you know them very well.
